If you haven't already made it to Publix/Winn-Dixie/WalMart for provisions you're probably too late. The hoards will be descending starting today and the tide won't break until Monday afternoon.

With the good weather make sure to screen calls/texts/facebook carefully. The last minute drop in guest is highly likely!

I can't wait for the reprieve of a hurricane.

If "The Hoards" stop coming to spend millions of dollars at all the local businesses and paying the "bed tax" for rentals......then when the hurricane comes there will be No Money in the tax fund to replenish the beaches.

Also, Publix/Winn-Dixie/WalMart will close because they depend HEAVILY on "The Hoards" coming to the beaches every year.

Why do locals think they own the area they live in?

Why is there always some sad person with no sense of humor that must reply to these kinds of threads?

Why do they assume that they know everything?

How uninformed must they be to not understand that beach renourishment isn't required after each weather event?

How uninformed must they be to not understand that the current beach renourishment is only progressing as it is already funded and will be warrantied for 50 years?

Why do they always assume that every full time resident is 100% reliant on tourism dollars?

The "hoards" will never stop coming to this very special place. Some weeks though are a little over the top, such as this one. We live through it every year and we'll live through it this year.

Yes I must go to PUBLIX and dread it horribly. What was I thinking?

Locals are thankful, even when we're frustrated, and yes, we all do rely on tourism as our number one industry.

Everyone is not 100% reliant on tourism dollars but tourism benefits all who live anywhere especially there.

I've lived there in the past and will be moving back full time soon.

If the tourists stop coming all the wonderful restaurants, art and wine and music festivals and convenient super markets and shops I enjoy and appreciate will close up and go elsewhere.

Yea, too bad there is always a sad, misinformed, no sense of humor local! Happens wherever I live!

What is the best time to hit Publix during busy times? I went at 9PM and it wasn't too crowded but only 4 registers were open and everyone there had carts that were busting at the seams with $500 of oreos, cheetos and Corona.
