I think a little non violent civil disobedience is good. Not a beach guy, but enjoy your walk.

Wish I was going to be down to join you in the walk!
I always find it incredibly peculiar when people become so viscous on the Internet and you go to look at their avatar and it's NEVER a picture of themselves! Ha!
At least have the guts to show a picture of yourself or your words mean absolutely nothing and give the rest of us a good chuckle!

I guess we lost you to the dark side. Until recently, by your own admission, you had no idea about the public/private beach situation. And you mentioned that you always found a place at the public beach.

So now, as a "new" private property owner in our area, what caused you to align yourself so fast with the Customary Use "crowd"? And try to resist the easy comeback.

Customary use of beaches as we've always walked and played on.. Is not a political position as I see it. There are many friends in support of customary use from all sides. It's good for our community and common sense. As well as removal of all signs, ropes, and unnecessary clutter harmful to our beaches as well as very unattractive on the world's most beautiful beaches. I hope we can work to preserve our access to our beaches as well as their beauty.

@BlueMtnBeachVagrant ---I'm not going to argue with you or explain any stance I have---I simply made a statement that threatens you. I actually feel sorry for you...I picture a lonely older man, behind his PC, just waiting for someone to engage him so you can pounce and release your anger. I've read back through older threads and I you've proven yourself.

I'm sorry sir, but I will not be your punching bag nor will I acknowledge your comments on here.

Life is too short for your nonsense...

Sorry you feel that way. You gave up a little too easy. This is obviously an emotionally charged subject. If you jump in this hot topic with all 4, expect a little push back. I think that's true with anything with life. It sounds like you're a bit thin skinned. Again, sorry your feathers were ruffled.

You are right. It is political on a local level and how our leaders will choose to address the issue. Though I know many friends on the side of customary use who are liberal as well as conservative or in between, if you're talking political philosophy.

And I would guess very few of your "friends" own private beach front property who are ready to give it up.

But what you say may ring true. The desire to take what others have may transcend so called political beliefs. It's really all about money in the end.

It's again time to mention that this will be settled in court, if it gets that far, and not with hippie-dippie protests. I just hope everyone can simply abide by the current laws and respect your neighbors.

So please answer me this: If a county backed suit is tried and lost (and no more are filed), do you think you and your friends will ever drop the Customary Use argument and respect private property rights resulting in fewer signs, chains, etc?

Is Customary Use only being pushed here in Walton, or are there Marches scheduled in Bayand Okaloosa too?

Okaloosa Co., OSCO SOP for beach trespass is about half of a page long and very simple. Walton's is about 6 pages and has several requirements.

I also recall an Official Letter from the State Attorney and their formal opinion on the topic.

Why was the other Hands Across the Sand event (the annual one), moved away from Seaside this year???

Hands Across the Sand is being organized at Ed Walline Beach Access this year as it was last year... Nancy Meehan is the local SoWal organizer again this year... Facebook group/event pages are available.

Join Hands to say "NO" to Off Shore Drilling & "Yes" to Clean Energy.
Taking place this Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Ed Walline Public Access Beach - Intersection of Highway 393 & C30A, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. We will form a line in the sand & join hands for 15 minutes at 12:00 pm.

I felt one event was enough for South Walton and Nancy Kastner Meehan does a wonderful job on a well attended event every year. Seaside has always been supportive of Hands Across The Sand. If I wanted I could hold a "Hands" event there any year. You are free to call Seaside and ask. Join hands with Nancy and everyone who believes it is time to transition away from dirty fuels and embrace clean energy. Keep offshore oil drilling out of Florida's waters.
