I stopped bringing my road bike to SoWal years ago. Seriously one of the most inhospitable places I've ever cycled.

Yep - Hwy 30A is not a good place to train or ride seriously. Anyone like yourself with half a brain would go somewhere without all the traffic. Traffic from bikes, skateboards, golf carts, walkers, runners, cars with no idea where they're going. The last place to bike unless it has basket and a bell.

Are they going to get rid of the sidewalk/bike path on the north side of 30A? If not I guarantee you that plenty of cyclists are going to continue to utilize it and continue to ride/walk through the 30A/395 intersection.

Not to be an ass, but I have seen many bikers that do not obey the basic rules of the road. Case in point, Wednesday stopped at a cross walk near Seacrest a family of eight was crossing with two carriages and a wagon when a guy on a bike who has to see all of this and wonders why this family is in his way, literally whizzes through the two groups. I about turned around and force fed him his 12 speed. Trust me I also see that drivers are no better, asshats are asshats I suppose.

I see just as many Drivers breaking the same laws at the cyclists. Honestly I'd rather a cyclists run the stop sign so I don't have to wait for him / her to get clipped back and start peddling.

Totally agree. I kept bringing my road bike down but only to commute to a fitness center. Now they have moved so I have to drive.

Serious cyclists don't or shouldn't use the multi-use path. It's even more dangerous than 30A. People, kids, pets have literally NO concept that someone might be coming up behind them. And the real cyclists are rolling at 20 to 25 mph.

So Well Done SoWal! Y'all managed to keep at least one poser cyclists off your precious 30A. And I was the one that rode close to the white line, not out in the middle. Yer Welcome!

Cycling on the path is a great way to get around SoWal as long as you're not interested to in going all out. I think it's much safer than the road but that's debatable. You can go anywhere you want without worrying about parking, and get somewhat of a workout. Get a cheap cruiser with thicker tires and ride across rougher terrain. Explore the eastern lake trail. It's well worth it! Make sure youre bike has a light, horn/bell, and be ready willing and able to cuss people out.
