I agree it is not your responsibility to try and change anyone's mind about anything. But you and I both have a responsibility to all those people who have died for you and I to have a democracy. I am not even asking either one of us to die on a hill trying to change anyone's mind about anything. All I am asking is that we are respectful when talking with a Trump supporter or anyone we disagree with about anything. Michelle Obama suggest that when they go low we go high. Eventually these small acts of kindness will pay off. It is hard I get it. But we ain't facing a firing squad or charging a hill or anything like that. I see a problem with asking others to be respectful when we can't be respectful or asking people to protect our democracy when we don't seem to care! Hillary being female can use the word deplorable but you and I are white privileged males and need to choose our words more carefully and respectfully.

I could be respectful when talking to a Trump supporter, but I guarantee you they won't be that way with me. You're asking people to be like the hippie teacher Mr. Van Driessen from Beavis and Butthead.

I don’t respect a single friken thing about trump. It’s a non-starter with me. I will never be able to understand how anyone could support such a horrible man.
You must come to the realization that the old saying is total bs, failure is the only option when trying to reason with a trump supporter.

Firing Trump is just the first step. Firing republicans is the 2nd step and we did not do a very good job of that so there is work to do. Trump and the republicans have done a lot of damage to our democracy. We the people will have to work with Biden and Harris to help strengthen our Democracy. We need those Trump supporters to do this. Many will refuse. Many are completely gone to the dark side. But there are people out there we can reach. The point is that this one election is just the beginning of a lot of work to do for our Democracy including learning how to connect with each other. It's important. Not life or death important maybe but ALL of us have to learn how to be respectful again. Some of you are saying that you just can't do it. BS on that. You can do it but you just don't want to give the effort. I call it social laziness. I understand it is difficult and some of these Trump supporters are a-holes but let's not get ourselves into that a-hole category otherwise how are we any different? Democracy is not just marking a ballot then calling people who don't vote like you all sorts of names. Either you are going to help build the bridge or you are going to sit back and let others do it like our President Elect Joe Biden but he needs our help. If you are not going to participate in building the bridge then please don't make it worse with all the name calling and bitching about everything. None of us have sacrificed what our soldiers, healthcare workers and other first responders have done for this country so quit complaining and do something productive not destructive. Disrespect is destructive...
