Okay, Chase Riddle. My family lived across the street from him when he was a successful scout for the Cardinals (that team) and a coach for Troy and won 2 national championships. He was a Republican as was my dad (my mom was a lifelong Democrat.) While he was a scout he traveled a lot, as did my Dad, scouting heavy equipment for large contractors. My dad and Chase took care of our families whenever the other was out of town.

I could fill up pages here about personal stories about Chase, for instance I didn’t go to my law school graduation, because Troy was playing a big game, and it was just much more fun than a boring event.

Now maybe you can put up your record against Chase’s, but I doubt you’ll ever get the respect he had from the Cardinals or the players he coached. I have no doubt he would have walked away from you shaking his head and thinking what a dumb idiot

You go…..
Chase was before my time but I was coached by guys that would have known him well. I played minor league ball for the same cardinals You speak of. Guys like George Kissel or hub kittle to name a few , The cards were full of those old salts. Those kind of guys loved me because of my work ethic. I have played at every level and coached at every level except pro ball. I was offered a pro position before I hung them up but I didn’t want to because there was no money in it and I didn’t want to live on the road.
Instead of getting so emotional and boiling over why not learn about me or ask me something. Why are you wound so tight? Is it because our political views differ? We are at a sad state, The anger in your comments make me hope you’re OK. I wish you the best

I was just reading up on him and he seemed like one heck of a guy. I graduated high school in 91 so the guys I played with would have just missed him (he retired from Troy in 90). It’s cool that 15 of his players kids were named chase. That’s how important a great college coach can be. I owe a ton to my college coach and still talk to him every couple of weeks.

All I have to do is google Chase and you, the results speak volumes. Why do you think I’m angry, wound up and not okay. You’re the one who is always bragging about your ”baseball career.” I’m just pointing out that I knew one of the greats and he would’ve thought you were an idiot. I’m not angry at all, just proud that I knew a such a good guy, kinda like a second dad. A man who didn’t want to be remembered for his success, just that he wanted to go out knowing that he was kind and gentle to everyone who knew him. BTW, Chase didn’t have boisterous tough man laugh or chuckle, instead he had an infectious giggle. So many good memories of a guy just trying to be the best human he could be.

Guys like him love guys like me because we work. If you think he would have thought I’m an idiot you didn’t really know him or me. If you think he was kind and gentle on the field you don’t know the game. If you think he was a good ballplayer you don’t know the game. He was in the minors for 20+ years. That would have been a brutal existence. He coached when coaches didn’t make much money. He was a bird dog for the Cardinals if you even know what that means. I’ll bet he was a motherf*cker to play for and that’s why they loved him and that’s why he was successful. That’s back when ball players were guys. Your ignorance is offensive to the very few of us that know the game. Put your red nose back on

Well, one good thing about this conversation is that people on here who didn’t know of Chase now do so. And who are you to say what I know about baseball or any other sport. My dad was recruited by the Reds when he was a H.S. pitcher. However, because he was still a minor his dad wouldn’t sign the paperwork (another story for another time.)

And because I knew Chase so well, I can recognize the body language of an upset coach in most any sport. And their onfield demeanor can be so different from everyday life.

Chase died in 2011 of complications from dementia. Afterwards, any time his name was brought up my dad would go off on many funny tales of Chase, not as a coach, but because of who he was off the field. Frankly, my dad attended very few of his games.

BTW, my dad passed away in 2018 from complications from shingles, have you gotten your vaccine yet? You might want to, it’s a much worse illness than Covid, and you can spread it to anyone of any age who hasn’t ever had chickenpox. Just a PSA.

Actually they are. Thanks for noticing. Please keep telling me what I believe. It makes you seem intelligent.
Okay lets see how much I know about you by answering this question: Do you believe Donald J. Trump is a tough guy and a real "man"?
