OK, all you decorators out there, I have a project for you. We live in a 1930's house and have a kitchen with details typical of that era, i.e. interesting color tile covering nearly 2/3 of the wall. The funky green tile is staying (there are two shades), white woodwork will stay, wallpaper has been stripped, it's time to paint. We are not faint-hearted painters; the walls in our house are very colorful, and the kitchen will be no exception. I've been trying to choose a color scheme and came up with two ideas. Have a look or offer a new option!

The brown is very striking against the white, and the green softens it perfectly. Grayt job. It looks wonderful.
Now how do you keep you kitchen so clean with 4 little peas?.
Only way it's possible, I suppose, is that it's not an eat-in kitchen. Otherwise, it'd be trashed, trust me.
Thanks, everyone, for you compliments!

I think a darker color above that green tile will look too heavy. If you like color, keep the walls a flat white, and the green will really pop! For the white trim, make it a glossy finish. Just my $.02

We had a house once with the same green tile and I painted the bathroom a bright pinkinsh peach color. It was crazy and fabulous. I had my children paint watercolor pictures using the same colors...a sun, sailboat, and a fish and framed them with white mats and frames and hung them on the wall. The window treatment I used was a striped fabric with the same retro green, the flamingoish pinkish orange, and other bright colors. I wish I had pics to show you.

I look at dates on contracts, but not threads. I just thought it was a new thread which received much input really quickly.:idontno::blush:

BTW, while I'm not a huge fan of dark brown in kitchens, I do think it looks rather good with the green tiles and white cabinets. The brown appears to be more of an accent color, and that works, especially with all of the white cabinets.

SJ, my kitchen is so small, everything in there's an accent.
