When the girl asks the boy to the dance, who pays for what? Does the boy give the girl flowers? I asked my son this. I don't want to wait 'til the very last minute and all he** break lose because we didn't order flowers, etc. He said he THINKS he's not supposed to buy anything. But I thinks he does, or even should!
I asked my young (cute) male physical therapist this a.m. and he said yes, the boy pretty much just goes ahead and pays for everything other than the cost of the dance ticket. I have no problem there but I'm still curious. What has eveyone else experienced?

Grayt pics JR, loved the colors they wore and yeah, your son has grayt hair and is very cute.

The hardest part of asking a girl out was waiting for an answer after she finished laughing.
yeah, until you get married, then the wallet snaps shut with an audible bang !
Aww now, Mr. Audie has bought you a washer & dryer, and a stove, right?
ya'll have it wrong - i got a new bed (because the old water tube bed exploded) and a new oven for christmas (because i bout burnt the kitchen up)...i am dreaming of a new washer/dryer.....maybe someday![]()
every time we go out to eat or bring something home (which is often) i always pay, and then when i run out of money and ask mr audie for some cash, he says and i quote "what the hell did you do with all your money this week". i think i will start cutting his allowance in half and keep the other half for myself.;-)
 you guys are killing me. funn thread. glad the dance was a success!

I have noticed something about teenage girls tho, why do they always wear that awful, gothic black kohl eyeliner? They would be so much prettier w/o it!
Even my son and his guy friends say they hate it! I'm thinking it is a phase and hopefully they will outgrow it in a year or 2.

Don't worry when they get married it's cheaper to be the parent of the groom. Not cheap mind you, just cheaper.
Not necessarily
While I paid for a third of my first son's wedding, I paid for half of second son's wedding and ALL of third son's wedding (with the exception of the brides dress). The latter I did only because the bride's parent refused to help pay. They said they couldn't afford it, and I felt sorry for the kids. So I offered to pick up the tab. (Funny though - about two months after the wedding the bride's parents ended up suddenly out of their financial woes, because they purchased a new addition to their house, a new motorcycle and a new car
Anyway, my point is that with the ridiculous cost of weddings these days, it's unfair to ask the bride's parents to pick up the tab. Luckily in many cases, couples wait until they're older and established in their jobs and can pay for much of the wedding themselves.bean

I agree, the heavy eyeliner is so obvious. I was hoping when Sam started wearing make up I wouldn't have to be the make up police. She does a really nice job applying liner and shadow so at the moment I'm okay with it.

It sounds like the brides parents are selfish not poor. I wanted to pay for my daughters wedding. It was my gift to them. It was expensive, but we had funn planning it and I'd do it all over again.
We did it without any help from the grooms family at all. It was nice of you to pick up the tab.

You're right on in your assessment of the bride's parents. What I didn't mention is that unfortunately it turned out that the apple didn't fall far from the tree as far as my former daughter-in-law is concerned. It's sad, because I have a beautiful grandson who resulted from that union, but his mother turned out to be a selfish person as well who would rather spend time partying all night and sleeping all day rather than be a mommy to her little son. My son now thankfully has custody of his 2 year old son. It's such a contrast, because my other two sons married wonderful women who I consider my daughters...we get along fabulously and they are so very sweet!
It's so wonderful and generous that you were able to give your daughter and son-in-law a fabulous wedding! Weddings are so very expensive these days! I had all sons and although traditionally the cost of the wedding is pretty much borne by the bride's family, I wanted to do all I could to help make their special day as memorable as possible.

when we got married we paid for everything ourselves, except for my pop paid for the reception where we had a buffet supper. i couldn't let them pay for my wedding after just putting me thru college....
my sister on the other hand had a big extravaganza.....i bought her wedding dress for her, and honest to goodness i paid more for her dress than my whole entire wedding cost including the reception. but whatever my sis wants, i get her

Thanks for the sweet comment...didn't mean to sound like I was patting myself on the back. I just love being a mom and grandma. It's wonderful to watch the families grow and I love seeing them happy.
Sounds like you're the same way. It's wonderful to make memories that will last a lifetime and beyond!

I'm the oldest of three sisters and I feel so blessed. I can't imagine what life would have been like without them.

when they brought my sister home, mom laid her on the couch, and told me to keep an eye on her while mom hung her coat up, by the time she got back from the hall closet i had my sister in my arms... i would get mad if mom tried to bathe her or anything - she was mine !

You know, this is a nice thread.
Why do some of the other threads end up being so mean-spirited? I just don't get it why some have to be so inflexible.

Maybe they didn't grow up with sisters! One thing you have to be with sisters is flexible or you may just get your hair pulled out.

would you guys believe my sister and i have never, ever fought ? we have never even passed harsh words between us. i would be crushed if my sister ever got mad at me. barring her hatefulness during both pregnancies of course ;-)

Isn't that wonderful. I'm 13 years older than my brother. We have that same relationship, like a sister/mother thing going on. We vacation together and he stepped into a role of trying to take care of me after my divorce. He's wonderful what else can I say. His daughters are like my own kids.
Funny too, I was 13 when he was born, he was 13 when my daughter was born, and my daughter was 13 his daughter was born. Checking your forum account
