Years ago, Dr. Laura was put out of business for opening her mouth and being hateful.
Recently Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, Michael Richards and a few others have had their careers ruined or hurt because of what they said.

Well I'm ready to shut down Ann Coulter. Its one thing to be politcally opinionated, and I'm all about free speech, but I'm ready to biatch slap this woman.:nono1:

Yet something tells me she'll come out smelling like a rose.:pissed:

Opinions are like a**holes and everyone has one.
She however, IS one!

"The remarks by Ann Coulter, an author who regularly speaks at conservative events, were sharply denounced by the candidates, Senator John McCain of Arizona, Rudolph W. Giuliani of New York and Mitt Romney of Massachusetts. Their statements came after Democrats, gay rights groups and bloggers raised a storm of protest over the remarks.

Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference before an overflow crowd on Friday, Ms. Coulter said,
"I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot,' so I -- so kind of an impasse, can't really talk about Edwards."

Mr. Edwards's aides responded with an e-mail message that attacked Ms. Coulter and urged supporters to donate to Mr. Edwards's campaign. "John was singled out for a personal attack because the Republican establishment knows he poses the greatest threat to their power," said his campaign manager, David E. Bonior. "Since they have nothing real to use against him, Coulter's resorting to the classic right-wing strategy of riling up hate to smear a progressive champion."

Ms. Coulter, asked for a reaction to the Republican criticism, said in an e-mail message: "C'mon, it was a joke. I would never insult gays by suggesting that they are like John Edwards. That would be mean."

At the conference, she said she was likely to support Mr. Romney.

The criticisms by the Republican candidates put them in a difficult position because the Conservative Political Action Conference has been gathering for conservative and Republican leaders for over 25 years.

The speakers this year included Vice President Dick Cheney and most of the presidential candidates, whose presence suggested the political influence the group holds in the
party’s nominating process. Mr. Cheney was not at the event on Friday.

Of the major Republican candidates, only Mr. McCain did not attend, but he denounced her remarks on Saturday morning. "The comments were wildly inappropriate," said his spokesman, Brian Jones.

Mr. Giuliani said, "The comments were completely inappropriate and there should be no place for such name-calling in political debate."

Kevin Madden, a spokesman for Mr. Romney, said: "It was an offensive remark. Governor Romney believes all people should be treated with dignity and respect."

Mr. Romney preceded Ms. Coulter at the event and mentioned that she was speaking later -- he jokingly referred to her as a "moderate." But he was not in the room when she spoke, Mr. Madden said.

Is Maher the same guy that has George Carlin on. I use to think George was funny until he became so political. He now seems like a miserable human being! It is hard to watch unless you like getting depressed....

I saw Carlin live once. Really expecting a funny show. It stunk :idontno:

He's always been very cynical, but perhaps in recent years he's lost his mojo.
He really changed after his wife died ('97, liver cancer). Plus I think he has been really frustrated with the apathy and inertia during the current political administration; it's not like it's the 70's anymore.
That bitterness may have shriveled up his funnybone. I'll always love his fart routine though. ;-)

Ann Coulter, your roots are showing.

Dear Ms. Coulter,

Yawn. I can get quite fired up at the rhetoric of the conservative leaders but sister, you bore the heck outa me.

The only thing I find amusing about you is the fact that your roots are showing. In more ways then one.

Names? Taunts? Is this the cutting edge of your intellect? I think you reveal a great deal about the attention starved girl, desperate to be accepted and socially elevated, that you evolved from.

Coloring your hair was probably just another ladder on that attention getting journey but the cracks are starting to show. What happened? Did your gay hair stylist finally get pissed off and is boycotting your weekly ?touch up?? Now wouldn?t that be funny?

Well that explains alot. I always said she had big balls but, a little brain.

I know she is actually very educated, please don't jump on me telling me she's an attorney and where she went to college. The colleges she attended have asked they be left out of her resume.

I think the point she made was that the civil service protection afforded to the non-medical employees at Walter Reed contributed to a 'that's not my job to fix it' mentality. While it certainly isn't the Democrats 'fault' that Walter Reed was in shoddy condition, it is fair to say that civil service protection is a cause championed by the Democrats, for better or worse. After having spent a fair amount of time working in the Veteran's Affairs Hospital system, I assure you, many ancillary employees know exactly what and what isn't in their job description and trying to get tham to flex one iota beyond the published parameter is like pulling teeth. Of course, they have total job security unless they do something truly dreadful...the inertia of inaction is pretty impressive:bang:

I hate to say it, but as a veteran, I've seen the above in action. It is the same way with Unions. Another 'democratic' convention. No wonder I'm a closet republican. Its been years since I've been to Walter Reed; I don't recall seeing any disrepair when I was there, but I wasn't hospitalized. I just can't believe it went on so long with out SOMETHING being done. What happened to good old fashioned work ethics?

Re: Ann Coulter STFU!

I disagree, when the Right Rev Jessie and the even Righter Rev Al say use similar inflamatory speach they are applauded and the rep hierarchy is afraid to call for a public retraction / apology. And when (really IF) a retraction or apology comes, it's lame at best and usually back handed. I usually don't wade into these political threads cause they usually end up with everybody getting feelings hurt or feelings of animosity against someone you used to like. Just so you'll know I still like y'all
you da man, RevRiv, now about that Budweiser franchise so i'm not disenfranchised.

While I don't particularly care for a lot of what Ann Coulter says, she's no worse than a lot of the Liberal left wing idealogues. Get over it! It's election season.
