Potterheads Unite....

I never knew so many people in Panama City could read, but there I was with hundreds of folk standing in line at Books-A-Million last night at midnight waiting to get my copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

I got it, read the first few pages, and fell asleep. No, its not boring, I had just been up for 22 hours.

I hadn't finished rereading The Half Blood Prince yet, wanted to finish it before starting book seven. Looks like its gonna take me all day to finish 6 before I can star seven tonight.

Who else is reading it? A great deal of fun getting it, standing in an all to appropriate lightning storm... I thought we were all going to end up with the trademark lightning scars on our foreheads!

The line wrapped around the entire perimeter of the inside of the store, then out and around to the back of the building. Yet it only took 25 minutes to process all of us.

If only the airports were this efficient!

Happy reading to you all!

See SmJoe? THIS is why (yet another reason) I went last night. The last two books I had delivered, one on time, the other not.
OOPS! Beach Jacket's copy *did* come. How could I know that it did or didn't come yesterday if I didn't check the mail?:bang: Sometimes I can be such a moron.

I did EXACTLY the same thing! Mine was supposed to come by UPS this time. (Last time it was a special delivery by USPS; I didn't pick UPS on purpose--I don't like UPS.)

But when it wasn't here yesterday afternoon, I called UPS. They told me that they had sent it by USPS...it was in my mailbox the whole time.

Fine by me as long as I don't hear the ending before I read it!

I just finished reading it today. Wow. It was great, and immensely satisfying to a Potterhead such as myself, but it's kind of sad now that the anticipations is over.

Definitely worth the hype, though.

I'm afraid I will hear about the end of the book since I have a couple to read before this one!!!!

Yep--big fan of the USPS, cockeyed optimist that I am...

All I'll say about the book is that I was surprised by how satisfied I was with it. I figured that after all the hype, I'd be dissappointed.

Yes. And that's about all I can say without giving away too many details.

ok, so now I need a chiropractor from trying to read the big book in bed...:floor: it is so heavy. :floor: (for a book that is)
I guess I will just stay up late in a chair:roll:
Mr. IBD was at the camp last night and I actually got spooked. I heard noises outside and was reading about Death Eaters at that time. I am getting old:cool:

I must be a cold-hearted wench. I didn't cry. I got upset in #4 when Cedric died, and profoundly bothered in #5 [I'm censoring myself here for people who didn't read it yet] died. Shocked in #6 by the death of [made you look].

But right off the bat in #7, [:( ] was blasted, then poor little [:( ] bit it. Then we hear about the deaths of [:( :( :( :( ]. By the end we lose [:cry::cry::cry::cry:].

I was too much in shock to cry. By the end I was just grateful ANYONE survived!

Only problem with the series is that 5,6, and 7 are too heavy for good bathtub and beach reading!

Anything that engages peoples' imaginations and gets them reading is a wonderful thing. Peer pressure to read a book.............definitely not a sign of the apocalyse!

No spoilers please, I decided to reread the entire series before 7 and misjudged my free time last week, so I still have to finish 5 and reread 6!

I've actually known people to buy the paperbacks and rip them in half for that reason...

I'm re-reading them in reverse order, trying to remember what the @#$% all those little spells and names and junk were. Someone needs to print a handbook with 1) The Marauder's Map, 2) a yearbook-style directory (with an appendix for family trees), 3) a timeline, 4) a glossary, 5) a list of spells and their function, and any other misc. info that might prove helpful. (Of course, someone is going to read this thread and do just that, and I'll get no credit whatsoever.)

And I keep glancing over the thread that says "Want to trade pants?"
