We planned their stay (2 nights) with swimming, camping, camp fire, movies, food. The swimming went great. The camping not so well...we had made alternative arrangements in the house in the event that this happened
The camp fire went well. Did you know they make "camp fires" that run on propane and don't kill the grass? Well, I didn't, but they do! We made s'mores. I learned that my grandchildren don't like anything "touching" anything else...did hot dogs, baked beans, alphabet macaroni salad (which they didn't like...who knew?!) and ice cream cones, etc., etc.Our son's uncle and aunt came for dinner the second night they stayed. It was a nice reunion.
We got a "Shrek" movie that had 3D glasses and a "short" to view in our home theatre. We got ready, had popcorn and Henry said "I watched a movie that 1 dragon and that was ok...but one movie had 2 dragons and I was afraid!" Oh my...I could have eaten him up.
The best thing about having your grandchildren (aged 4 and 2) stay and "camp" at your home?...the 4 year old saying (as the 3 room tent
It's wonderful being a grandmom!

)! I can't tell you how exhausting it was...they are always on the go...and all I really did was COOK. Grandpa did most of the work setting up the tent, doing the outdoor grill cooking, etc. Really, I'm not "super grandma". I was fortunate enough to have had two wonderful pivotal people in my life, and I am trying to pass just a little of what I experienced along to my own sweet grandbabies
BTW, I do wrap up a fairly pretty Christmas present...and do stick a little something extra on the top of the package next to the bow
So there's my confession...I'M NOT SUPERGRANDMA!
