24 Days and Counting

In 24 days we will be heading south. Friday night, the 24th, in Mobile, Bellingrath the next morning. Hope to visit the Battleship and the U.S.S. Drum Friday afternoon after checking in and resting a bit. The 25th through Sept. 1st in Sowal, would like to have the 2nd there also. Hope they offer us an extra day. Cannot wait. My countdown has begun.

We are both ready. We haven't been to the beach since 2005. Didn't want to leave our furbaby Mo last year and I am glad we didn't and am glad we went somewhere twice where we could take him with us as last year unfortunately ended up being our last full year with him. I'm so happy for the 13 years we had with him though but now we have nothing to have to rush back home to nor delay leaving because of. Hope to meet IBD and Little IBD as they are across 98 from where we will be staying. And anyone else on here that might frequent the area of the beach where we will be staying that is a regular on the board here.

I plan on having fun. It will be just what I need as a stress reliever. But I hope to be over these issues before then as I feel I am the cause of most of them.

14 days and we will be arriving at the beach. It will be here before I know it. Cannot wait. And since we are leaving a day early and staying a night in Mobile Friday night, Thursday will be spent washing clothes and packing. Florida here we come.

Miss Kitty, you just don't know how excited I am. Haven't seen the beach in two years. Definitely am looking forward to a week of the beach and sitting on the deck at night drinking some wine and listening to the waves. I am worse than a kid when it comes to first spotting signs of sand. Of course we will be coming Interstate 55 through Mississippi this time instead of our other route due to stopping in Mobile. Hope the traffic moves as well as it does on Interstate 65. I promise I haven't been drinking. Noticed I had an e on traffic .

I will do just that for GTTBM. I am jealous of those of you that can afford to go more than once a year and stay several weeks at a time or stay a month. Wished we could. But I do not have that much vacation time. My hubby has 4 weeks a year but I only have two and won't have 3 for another 4 years.

Audie, I plan on taking lots of pics. We have a nice digital camera. Will start with taking pictures of the U.S.S. Alabama and the U.S.S. Drum if permitted. I know they will be at the submarine but not sure about the ship other than a outside shot. And plan on taking plenty of pictures at Bellingrath Gardens. And pictures when we go canoeing like the last time. Thanks, I should be well rested and hopefully relaxed but unfortunately it looks like my hubby is going to have to work on Labor Day. He already had to work Memorial Day and July 4 like everyone else and it shows them working Labor Day also unless they change their minds. But that is double time and a half. Good money. But we could probably stay an extra day in the beach house if they offered it to us like in past years if he didn't have to work. So that is a wait and see thing. But there will be a trip report. Wished you and Mr. Audie could be there while we were there. But I know you will enjoy your time in October.

You're right Johnrudy. There is nothing better than going to the beach. I don't care where else you might go, it doesn't compare. The 24th cannot come soon enough. I'd be packed already if I could.

Hopefully it will not be as hot as it is now when we get there. We probably won't get into Mobile until around 2:00. Will have to see how late the ship is open. And you are right about probably needing a drink or two. These 100+ we have had since probably the end of last week are ridiculous, It got to I think 104 here today, I think it was 103 here yesterday and they are showing highs tomorrow and Wednesday of 105, and 104 for Thursday. And I believe 103 for Friday and then for the weekend it is supposed to drop to the upper 90's for highs. Wow, a cool spell. We will have a good time. One thing is for sure. Even though we didn't get in the water last time, if it is this hot down there, we will be this year.

Even a day at the beach with a tropical depression in the distance is better than a hot day at home

I was in Key West during a tropical depression, with wakes from the water flooding the bars on Duval Street. All in all, it was an adventure that was more fun than being stuck in an office back home Not fun for the bars, I'm sure, but all ended well!

Lady D, today the beach was deserted, water clear as a swimming pool, temperature perfect, some waves but nothing to worry about.
