NOTHING aggrivates me more than when a job drags out offering you a position for over 2 months - finally offers you a position after they keep saying they will call- but don't- you resign from your amazing job you've had for 3 years, break your lease and basically pay $5G  to do so, lose the best roommate you've ever had  - only to talk to your new company for over 1 1/2hrs going over your employment handbook/filling out w2's, to then proceed to hunt for homes like a madwoman, to then have the bosses hubby call you to tell you they've resigned their offer knowing full-and-well everything you've done to make yourself available to them.

I've lost my job/career.
I've lost my home.
All I will have is these cute dogs and no where to go...

Un-friggin-believable.:bang:

Isn't it a bit late for that? How unethical can you be?
Seriously- it's against the law to do this.
But frankly- I now feel I have dodged a bullet.
Too bad too- some employees were quite nice. I really enjoyed talking to them.

So- if anyone needs some freelance design OR a decent artist/art assisant for any reason- I am currently available ... unfortunately.

Help a girl out! I've never been this much of a mess in my life.

P.S. I had fun meeting SBartoldus and Potato Vixen last night ;-) Thx for saying 'Hi!'

BlueFox,
Sorry this is is such a trying time for you. Of course, it's so easy for an outsider to tell you anything, but you'll see that it's tue eventually. You'll know what's right for you!!

ok- last time-

I feel I have not burnt any bridge. They did.
I am not bashing the company.
I am fully aware this is all public knowledge on this board.

If they didn't want anyone to find out about what they have done to me, then they shouldn't have done it.

DO UNTO OTHERS...

I have seen you guys say WAY worse things on this board that would actually have a direct effect on companies- i.e. bad restaurant reviews and such. That can actually cripple a business. All I am doing is airing the situation.

I even stated that I thought the company put out good work. So if this is "bashing" you are all mistaken. I am simply stating the facts of the situation.

P.S. this is crippling for me in the area because they're aren't many graphics jobs. That's why I am about to freelance and not have to deal with these types of issues. I wasn't looking for a job- I was looking for a career. My type of job can't be found in the classified section...

Have you ever heard the saying.."can't see the forest for the trees?" BlueFox...the advice I sent your way had nothing to do with how you were "wronged", it had everything to do with with how you are conducting yourself on this message board, which any future employer might see. I'd be sorry to see you "cripple" yourself further. Just my 2 cents.

The Today show is getting ready to run a story about Googling your name, and what to do if you find stuff about yourself that you would not want others to see. Apparently there are some companies that can clean up your internet exposure. I bet they are very busy in this age of Myspace, Facebook, etc.

reputationdefender.com was just mentioned

alright people- for me to stop awnsering you have to stop assuming things here...

I am fully aware of employers "googling" my name. This is why my Myspace is private and I only posted this under the registered users only section. I am aware future employers could read this- and that dosen't bother me. I did nothing wrong here- and I haven't bashed the company. I have googled my own future employees and have weeded them out, not due to their postings, but usually because their myspace page contains information about how they hate their bosses, their job sucks or they seem to be crazed alcoholics. That should be kept private.

Put yourself in my flip-flops...
I think I have been very reserved in this forum actually...

Just googled you. Didn't realize there were so many people out there with your same name. Crazy, huh. ;-)

Though I doubt many of them go beyond googling a name. As long as BlueFox doesn't have a connection between her screen name and anything with her real name on it (ie. delete links to her portfolio) that goes a long way toward preventing any of those sorts of problems.
and deleting the name from her email address, which is something else employers type into the Google search bar.

I agree...that is why I prefer to remain anonymous. Just think what would happen to me if my boss Hank Paulson ever found out what I post on the board about the U.S. Economy going into the crapper??

 .
Shelly, after seeing the "Shelly's Cleaning Service" sign on the van in Grayton, I thought you were self-employed. :idontno: I figured you were cleaning up the tears and blood. :funn:

BF may not have known their full situation, but THEY KNEW HERS. Yes, they can change their mind, but it doesn't make it right. That's just my humble opinion.
I agree with the second sentence and never said it was right. As we have not heard from the employer, I will not be making any judgments about them knowing everything. ;-)

When I mention googling, I wasn't limited in my thoughts of just SoWal.com/bb. ;-) Nor your private myspace page. ;-)

HA! I googled Bluefox181 and have found ANOTHER ONE. I am def, not the person posting on shinyshorts.com or on auto forums. Too funny. If you search my real name there is some dutch girl bearing my name and red hair. I never assume it's the same person unless I find photos along with their posts... I have researched a few people before :D

It is not liable if it is true.
But first, call an attorney familiar with labor law in the city where the job was offered. Yea, both FL & GA are "at will" states BUT it is based on a fairness. You were not treated fairly. Even if the law is not on your side, you may get an attorney to get a "severence" package to avoid the potential legal entanglements.
Go get'em, girl
You could be lying in the lap of luxury for a few months soon.

...and then you could be unemployable after that if the story gets out. "Was wronged by last potential employer and made those batturds pay" doesn't play so well on resumes.

libel?

Libel-

Statements presented as fact must be false to be defamatory. Proving a defamatory statement to be true is often the best defense against a prosecution for libel.

But this has nothing to do with employment- I never worked a minute there- look up a thing called "promissory estoppel."

Well, I know everyone keeps saying the "at will" work law- but this actually has nothing to do with employment- as I never worked for them. If I had worked there for even a day I wouldn't be able to do anything.

No offense- but I trust the lawyers here.

And you are all right- I am very glad not to be working under someone who would treat any employee this way. Horrible work ethic.

I am saying nothing but fact. I am not exaggerating this in any way. I did think about this. I am not being defamatory- just stating facts.
It did happen this way.
It is unethical.

WB- you think it's ethical to fire someone under these circumstances?

And, on that note- I am done with this subject- I just wanted those of you that have followed my story and knew how excited I was for this job to know what had happened. I wanted nothing more than to be an employee at this company.

And the reason I said it was a poor management decision is because it was a snap decision that puts them in a liable position not because I think what they did was wrong.

wow- I just typed a really long reponse- and then hit the back button by accident and all was erased...

To some it up-

1. I am not a lawyer.
2. But- the lawyers say I have a solid case.
3. I don't sue due to lack of funds and general disinterest in dealing with people lacking of ethics and morals.
4. My father is not me.
5. Don't mess with the Irish. We tend to be fiesty when we've been wronged.
6. I am NOT pregnant, nor am I even dating anyone.

The end.
I encourage you to re-evaluate what is fact and what is opinion. Your statements on your empolyment status with them are on the edge of being contradictory. Ethics and morals are opinions, not fact. "Poor management decisions" are also opinion. Your premise that you are stating only fact, is false.

How are they contridictory? I was awnsering people who were saying it's an "at-will state" and how that really dosen't effect the the point of why they could be liable. I am trying ot state how it dosen't really matter one way or the other if I worked there. PROMISSORY ESTOPPEL.

Ethics and morals in that statement was actually reffering to lawyers- not the company - read it again...

When I question others if they think it is right or wrong I am not stating that as fact but rather a question. I personally don't think it's ethical- that is an opinion, true.

Poor management decision because they have opened themselves up to liability- not because of what I "think" they did to me. I have stated this before.

Either way I think it is absurd to even think I am lying or presenting false statements here- I have no reason to do so. I'm not argueing with you because you always try and find a counterpoint just to rile people up. The facts are:
1. I was let go for no logical reason, as stated by them in a letter from them.
2. I have incurred serious monetary damages.
3. I did greatly want to work there- and now I don't. Opinions change, as apparently theirs did about me.

I am well aware some of you work with some of these people and as I have stated before- this has NO reflection on their work- or the people who work there. This only has to do with a management decision.

Although this thread has turned out to be rather entertaining, I think you should just stop. There is nothing you can say that is going to get the job. BlueFox you have already say you were not going to pursue a legal case so why discuss one. We all know how you feel and words are getting twisted. Sowal is a very small town and you might be hurting yourself more than you know. I understand how mad you were 4 days ago but 95 post later nothing has been solved.

Not trying to "solve" anything.

All I was trying to do was tell people what happened and then I turned into some bad guy for doing so. Rediculous. Re-read my first post and see if I was trying to go into legal matters or extreme disection/discussion of it. All the posts following it were me trying to stick up for myself on here. And I am so over it now.

I thank all of you that have sent me private messages and have wished me well on getting back on my feet and for those of you sending me job leads. Like I always have said- SoWal is an amazing commmunity and takes care of its own. I still cannot wait to be a part of it.

But also a big thank you to all who feel you must kick me while I'm down when I've already lost my job, my house, and my flippin sanity. Don't try and justify it- it's just mean. I have never been more stressed out in my life. Thanks for adding to it.

You want to disect this post to? Go ahead, I'm done trying to defend myself.

BF...you see it as rediculous and I see it as ridiculous, but from another viewpoint. As I saw it, you had enough nice people feeling sympathy for you and from what you say also sending you support and leads in PM's. I NEVER wished you bad will. IMO, you didn't want to hear some constructive criticism (and yes, when one is down it is hard to hear). I do wish you well. I worry about the dogs. Hopefully, someone will keep us posted on them.
