NOTHING aggrivates me more than when a job drags out offering you a position for over 2 months - finally offers you a position after they keep saying they will call- but don't- you resign from your amazing job you've had for 3 years, break your lease and basically pay $5G  to do so, lose the best roommate you've ever had  - only to talk to your new company for over 1 1/2hrs going over your employment handbook/filling out w2's, to then proceed to hunt for homes like a madwoman, to then have the bosses hubby call you to tell you they've resigned their offer knowing full-and-well everything you've done to make yourself available to them.

I've lost my job/career.
I've lost my home.
All I will have is these cute dogs and no where to go...

Un-friggin-believable.:bang:

Isn't it a bit late for that? How unethical can you be?
Seriously- it's against the law to do this.
But frankly- I now feel I have dodged a bullet.
Too bad too- some employees were quite nice. I really enjoyed talking to them.

So- if anyone needs some freelance design OR a decent artist/art assisant for any reason- I am currently available ... unfortunately.

Help a girl out! I've never been this much of a mess in my life.

P.S. I had fun meeting SBartoldus and Potato Vixen last night ;-) Thx for saying 'Hi!'

I am saying nothing but fact. I am not exaggerating this in any way. I did think about this. I am not being defamatory- just stating facts.
It did happen this way.
It is unethical.
I did enjoy all the employees that I met there- and they all seemed to be wonderful, good, hard-working people. This DOES NOT reflect on their work in any way. This is a poor managment decision. That is all.

Okay, I cannot keep my big mouth shut any longer. BlueFox (and now we know your real name), are you not concerned with airing all this on a message board? I am worried there might be consequences you did not anticipate for yourself. I am sorry for your situation, but want you to think before you type.

Kitty is wise. Life ain't fair, and we're judged by how gracefully we walk away from trainwrecks. (And y'all probably have figured out that I'm one of those people who can do nothing gracefully, which may be why I'm self employed!)

No offense intended, but these are opinions, not facts. I'd be careful.

Here here!

I am picking up the pieces of what's left of me and moving on.

WB- you think it's ethical to fire someone under these circumstances? Would you have someone quit their job, and move to another state only to pull the rug out from under them? They even told me it had nothing to do with my work. I'm literally jobless and homeless in a week.

And, on that note- I am done with this subject- I just wanted those of you that have followed my story and knew how excited I was for this job to know what had happened. I wanted nothing more than to be an employee at this company.

And the reason I said it was a poor management decision is because it was a snap decision that puts them in a liable position not because I think what they did was wrong.

Whoa! I never said what I thought about any of this; I was just trying to look out for you and let you know that those statements are, in fact, opinions.

I hate that this happened to you, and agree (without knowing the other side first hand) that it is a horrible thing to do to someone. I wasn't trying to add to your frustration in any way and apologize if I did.

I wish you luck with your freelancing.

Thanks for clarifying.

I'm not mad at anyone playing devils advocate here- just trying to get people to understand what has happened and where I am coming from.

Believe what you want. Many people do not fully understand the power of the internet. Employers browse Myspace, etc. and what they see on potential employees pages can have profound effects on employment. I wish you well.

Sounds like good sound advice to me. Word almost always gets back to employers and you do want to work in that same field right?

Ditto.

It's a small town...you made a wise move not to discuss this any further.

You keep pointing out to us that you were never employed there. If you weren't employed, you weren't fired. Ethics and morals vary greatly from one culture to another, and even within subcultures, so as stated, that would be an opinion. You don't know the company's full situation, and business owners can change their mind, too. ;-)

Amen, and all the posts we post here are public knowledge. And, if you have ever posted a blog, or journal or such....guess what...it is there for all to see.

Though I doubt many of them go beyond googling a name. As long as BlueFox doesn't have a connection between her screen name and anything with her real name on it (ie. delete links to her portfolio) that goes a long way toward preventing any of those sorts of problems.

There have been times and places online I've mightily complained about jobs I've had that have gone massively pear-shaped, and said things far worse than what she said, but I've always been careful to neither have my real name nor my employer's name attached to my rants in that regard.

I agree...that is why I prefer to remain anonymous. Just think what would happen to me if my boss Hank Paulson ever found out what I post on the board about the U.S. Economy going into the crapper??

BF may not have known their full situation, but THEY KNEW HERS. Yes, they can change their mind, but it doesn't make it right. That's just my humble opinion.

But they sent a letter to say how sorry they were...which is more than Florida law requires.

On the plus side, there are plenty of jobs in the area--Walton County has the lowest unemployment rate in the state.

How very generous of them. Forgive me. Perhaps we should have a parade in their honor for being such upstanding business neighbors. ;-)

Is it the lowest because people are employed? Or is it because when people lose their jobs, they no longer can afford to live here and have to leave.

Bluefox,

I know the last thing you want to hear is a bunch of sunshine being blown you know where when all is chaos in your world. But you seem to be a feisty one and no doubt will come through this with flying colors. You got some big cohones to name names and for that I applaud you. Sometimes a bridge has got to burn so a new one can be built.

ok- last time-

I feel I have not burnt any bridge. They did.
I am not bashing the company.
I am fully aware this is all public knowledge on this board.

If they didn't want anyone to find out about what they have done to me, then they shouldn't have done it.

DO UNTO OTHERS...

I have seen you guys say WAY worse things on this board that would actually have a direct effect on companies- i.e. bad restaurant reviews and such. That can actually cripple a business. All I am doing is airing the situation.

I even stated that I thought the company put out good work. So if this is "bashing" you are all mistaken. I am simply stating the facts of the situation.

P.S. this is crippling for me in the area because they're aren't many graphics jobs. That's why I am about to freelance and not have to deal with these types of issues. I wasn't looking for a job- I was looking for a career. My type of job can't be found in the classified section...
