Alys Beach Lighting

Has anyone heard if Alys is building a football stadium on the northeast side of the property? They have had a big huge light that was an annoying source of light pollution for as long as we've lived here. Tonight, I go out and there is another, brighter light pointed right toward our house. The two lights face each other, and look for all the world like the lights you'd see in a high school football stadium. I was looking forward to trying to watch the meteor shower tonight, but it is so bright out I can't even see a star. Try as I might, I can't imagine why they are going to so much trouble to light a big sandlot with intensely bright blue white light all night, every night. Anyone know?

The lights in question illuminate the construction parking area and materials storage area and are set to be adjusted downward within the next few days. Hopefully this will reduce the light trespass.

The new street lights feature energy-saving compact flourescent bulbs but indeed turned-out to be brighter than expected. An adjustment is in the works that will reduce glare and brightness. These steps should help preserve views of the night sky.

Alys Beach seems to be doing as much right as they can and it is a cool place. Hope they keep on track.

Yea, some salt spray and those copper lights will look really good for a long time.

We'll be there in late Sept and will definitely check it out.

I noticed that the new lamps on 30A had been extinguished while they look for more subtle lightbulbs.

:clap::clap: Isn't great to know people who can take action?

"Hey, there is this sweet little SoWaller who is complaining about the bright lights shining into her house. Can you help her out?"

"You say she is a SoWaller? No problem."

It would be wise for all local developers to dedicate a few peepers to watching the message boards on SOWAL .....

These cats don't miss a thang !
