Poor Otters,
Here in West Tenn it looks like "out of Africa". We haven't had any rain in 4 weeks. Our pastures are brown and we are cutting for hay 600 plus acres of soybeans that aren't going to make beans.

Guess Mr. Bluemtnfriend won't be buying me a new tractor for my birthday this year. That's been his running joke for the last 3 years that I needed a new tractor.

We need a good dose of sowal!

Show off! Where did you learn to drive and shoot photographs at the same time? I know they don't teach that in Driver's Ed.

I was surprised when I went outside this morning, I didn't note the temp until later in the morning, maybe around 10am, and it was only 81F degrees, and we had some nice stormy winds coming out of the north. I thought it felt like Fall in Florida for a moment. Usually, by 10am, the temp is already 90F degrees. The stormy weather went away, and left us with warm temps and a decent breeze in open areas.

 ...feels like Fall here! Only 95 degrees! We have been blessed with a mild summer except for one week in the depths of the underworld. Keep cool out there!

My sister is in Maine and freezing, figuratively speaking. She has to warm the house with a roaring fire.

What!!! You're thinking that someone who can take videos of his kids going a hundred miles an hour down the flume at the Destin water park wouldn't know how to drive and shoot pics at the same time!!!!!!! The Otter's a photographic master.

All this talking heat made me think of this song! Who remembers it?

Summer in the City

Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city

All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright

And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city

Cool town, evening in the city
Dressing so fine and looking so pretty
Cool cat, looking for a kitty
Gonna look in every corner of the city
Till I'm wheezing like a bus stop
Running up the stairs, gonna meet you on the rooftop

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright

And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city

Think it was 103 here today. That is what it was supposed to get to anyway. It did reach 101 for sure. :(

Don't you people own air-conditioners? Really, what's the big deal, unless you are wearing a football uniform and practicing in the heat at 3:30pm? :idontno:

It looks like total FALL here in Gallatin, but worse cuz even my magnolia's leaves are totally brown. :yikes: I've been raking all the oak leaves that covered my dead grass. Thought maybe I should leave them but raked them under some of the trees for extra mulch. :idontno: It is the driest I have ever seen it. Franklin is shutting off water to customers caught with automated sprinklers running.

You shouldn't be out in the heat, raking the leaves. Plus, the leaves probably help hold moisture in the ground so that your grass stays healthy in this time of drought. They may also protect the grass from the intense heat of direct Sun.

from an article about the weather in the Dallas Morning News yesterday...

"Right now, Texas forecasting is so easy I could do it..."Sunny and hot, followed by turkey and dressing." :rolling:
