Haggard,Foley,Craig. It is an epidemic. Can any of my right wing friends help explain this to me. Don't most politicians use their power to help themselves ? Why would Republicans be so anti-gay when they seem to be so pro-gay in their private lives ?

rancid...I had this conversation with my husband last night. Take what I say with a grain of salt...( and maybe a shot of tequila). I have always considered myself a moderate Republican. I tend to hang out in the middle of any bell curve of politics. That said, I know both parties have their hypocrites, but right now the Republican Party seems to me to be the party of Hypocrites when it comes to all this "morality". This is the product of blurring the lines of church and state to me. I don't believe the gov't should be telling me how to raise my family, what I should do with my body or what any consenting adult should be doing behind closed doors. I can say without reservation, that some of the most judgemental and damning people I know are these supposed conservative Christians. That is one of the most confusing thing to me. Thank you for your time...I am off the soap box for now!

Not to mention human, and the best way to keep people from seeing what's wrong with me is to point out what's really wrong with you.

I'm so glad I'm not like that.

I'm sorry. Would "curious pattern" have been better? "ironic frequency"?

You got it right Miss Kitty! (Are we allowed to just address you as just "Kitty," or am I being too forward?)

The answer is perfection does not exist no matter what walk of life you come from. You just must make the decision for yourself what you will tolerate, what you won't tolerate, what you will believe in or won't believe in, who you will trust or not trust, can you live with your decisions and realise your one of those imperfect people. What does this all boil down to? Do what you think is right and don't apologize for it.

My view is that, not all Republicans are true...not all Democrats are true. My personal observation is that, when a "Republican" messes up, he gets dealt with until he is out of there. A "Democrat" on the other hand messes up and is (supported) by his party. I hate the double standard!!!

I'm not big into politics in general so my opinion is an uneducated one from that standpoint.

However, what really bothers me is these guys ran and were at least
partially elected because of there view on issues around gays. Some have said bad things and most voted against equal rights and marriage for gays. Basically saying that gay is wrong in all forms - or that is the way it feels to me. (I don't have all the facts - remember this is my humble perspective.)

Then they are gay!

To me, being gay is not a choice for most people, and these poor guys are just so full of self hatred. This is beyond making a mistake, or doing something you regret.

I have a had time with hypocrites in general, but I have no tolerance for this. I feel sorry for their families. I'm sorry that they felt pressured to deny who they really are.

Ok I'm off the box. :D

If you take away all the hypocrites there might not be any politicians left. :bang:

Are you calling me a hippocrite? Or just a hippo?

Now that is a novel idea. It does seem like the system bites it self in the butt - and everything takes too long. That being said, I wouldn't want a government job --too much pressure and name calling.

How about a platypus? (Find me a smiley for THAT one!)

Seriously, I think we're all hypocrites. Some just hide it better than others.

Charlie Crist.

.

C'mon, SHELLY, BFD if Crist is gay. He is not cheating on his spouse, since he does not have one. He has not been caught trolling in a restroom, and I have never heard of him harrassing underage boys. In fact the most personally scandalous thing about Charlie is his alleged one-night stand with a woman who got pregnant 17 years ago and put the baby up for adoption (which may or may not have been Charlie's, no DNA test is forthcoming). That baby has grown up in a stable, loving family with her adoptive parents.

Also he's never been considered overly judgmental type -- quite the opposite, he is very friendly. Certainly not smug. He is not the brightest bulb and he is 100 percent politician, but in no way does he deserve to be lumped in with those three. Unless you know something you feel the need to share. :idontno:

OK!

Well aren't you cheery? I get the idea but I try to be as open and honest as I can. I'm not saying I always get it right, or don't change my mind... but there is a big difference to me between being a hypocrite because you compromise on the little things and being a hypocrite because you hide how you really are. Does that make sense? It is almost bedtime.
