Haggard,Foley,Craig. It is an epidemic. Can any of my right wing friends help explain this to me. Don't most politicians use their power to help themselves ? Why would Republicans be so anti-gay when they seem to be so pro-gay in their private lives ?

Seriously, I think we're all hypocrites.

I appreciate your honesty...but I honestly think and believe that we're all hypocrites until (God) reaches us and does a mighty work on the (inside) of us. When "He" gets a hold of the heart, things change. That has been my experience!!!

I am loving this thread!!!! I say, Let's all write in "Miss Kitty" for President!!!!!!

It is funny, however, that these people are so afraid of allowing gays and lesbians to have the same basic rights that straight people have. Regardless of what you were taught growing up, or in Bible School, people need to take a look and really try to understand the Constitution and all of the amendments that follow.

Just my opinion, (I am allowed to have one of those even if Uncle Sam owns the rest of me)

What basic rights? Marriage? I don't think the government has any busniness messing around with anyone's sexuality, gay OR straight. They shouldn't recognize any sort of marriage, since it's a religious institution. Butt out and go to fair tax.

I don't have the right to spousal benefits, either. I'm starting the Single Rights Movement.

I don't want to know who or what you sleep with as long as it's of age and consenting.

rancid...I had this conversation with my husband last night. Take what I say with a grain of salt...( and maybe a shot of tequila). I have always considered myself a moderate Republican. I tend to hang out in the middle of any bell curve of politics. That said, I know both parties have their hypocrites, but right now the Republican Party seems to me to be the party of Hypocrites when it comes to all this "morality". This is the product of blurring the lines of church and state to me. I don't believe the gov't should be telling me how to raise my family, what I should do with my body or what any consenting adult should be doing behind closed doors. I can say without reservation, that some of the most judgemental and damning people I know are these supposed conservative Christians. That is one of the most confusing thing to me. Thank you for your time...I am off the soap box for now!

This country needs more Republicans like you!

actually, this country could use more people like the kitty! its called open-minded, non-judging, intelligent thinking, with a willingness to listen and learn, and even "waffle" on issues as you learn more about them.

The way I see it is that "what you resist, persists". Those folks that have a big need to rail against a personal behavior have that personal behavoir as their demon. Look at the public opinion demagogues that have fallen. Porn= caught with prositute. "Family Values"= cheaters. Anit-Gay = restroom rendevous.
It is not hypocracy as much as it is running from personal traits and inclinations that they do not want to admit or are hiding from. A shrink once told me that it was OK to acknowledge the thought, it just might not be Ok to act on that thought. Since I started approaching life and the weird thoughts I have, it has been easier to deal with you nut cases. And I am not nearly as quick to make judgements about my fellow sinners ( not achieving the highest ideal ).

Using an airport restroom and his attempt to avoid prosecution by playing his "I'm a senator card" are the parts I have issues with.

If someone wants to keep their orientation a secret and pass/support legislation that hurts them, that's their issue to deal with. I really don't care what someone's orientation is unless I am interested in sleeping w/ them. Taking over/contaminating public spaces to the extent that a police task force is necessary is crazy!
