Worry. Do you worry? Why worry about things you cannot control? :idontno:

Just leave it in
God's hands!

King James, originally.
But weren't there many more editors and translators than King James? :idontno:

It's not "my" idea that counts!!! God said..."Thou Shalt Not Kill" and that's good enough for me!
Cannot take that too literally. "Murder" might be a more appropriate translation, and that wouldn't be solely referencing human murder. There is a difference between killing an animal to eat for food and outright murder of an animal just because you want to kill a deer. God's language is universal and words are not needed to know God's message or know of God's creations.

How's that working for ya', NoHall?

Bend over. I got a sticker for ya.

He was the one who originally had it translated, and he had it translated according to his own taste.

To be fair, most of the translations we use now (New International Version, Revised Standard Version, etc.) are translated directly from the Hebrew and Greek, so King James falls out of the picture.

But if you recall the very recent Broo-Ha-Ha about the Gospel of Judas, yes, there were lots of gospels that were rejected by the church, and since the church is made up of mostly people, I'm sure that those early Catholics had their own agenda. (As much as I like some of what I heard about the Gospel of Judas, that book also said that Mary Magdelene was a witch. Very strange.)

Did the Southern Baptist recently ditch the King James Version? The Southern Baptists make a very large and powerful congregation and to say that the King James version falls out of the picture may not be correct.

I ditched the Southern Baptists around 1990, but I think most SBC congregations ditched the KJB before that. I went to a Baptist school, and we used NIV at school (unless some real old school preacher came in for something.) I remember when I was a little kid, my parents actually used a Living Bible, which was in conversational English.

So who holds the copyright to the best selling book of all times, The Bible? That is what I worry about. They must be making a killing.

So, other than brownies, what else are you guys worried about tonight? Maybe we could pray about it together!!!

Let me ask you this...If you had to be out of your place by next week, and you didn't have a place to go, just yet, would that worry you? Would that be a "healthy" worry?

Barb, what do you think about Genesis 3:16? Why would God make women suffer in pain and why would God make men ruler over their wives? Do you live by this part of the Bible? These three Bible translations have the same meaning, ...

New International Version
To the woman he (God) said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."

King James Version
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

New Living
Then he said to the woman, ?I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy,
and in pain you will give birth. And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you."

No, that wouldn't worry me. I'd just pray that I found a place, and in one week, I'd be homeless.

Keep it up, and I'm gonna send you an unabridged copy of my research project on glass ceilings and gender gaps that still exist, buddy. That wasn't a commandment, it was a curse. (Just like the thing about the @#$% snake striking at our heels, which right before what you quoted. Talk to a female landscaper about that one...)
