38hmmmm......can't remember
That's great! Hilarious descriptions.
I never heard of most of them, but I remember reading recently about an Amphicar convention on Lake Michigan. My neighbor had a convertible Corvair when I was little, and he used to take me for rides in it. I blame my love of convertibles on those rides.

I love reading about cars. Thanks for this link. I viewed the 1960 - 1974. Wow, what memories. My best friend had a Triumph TR6. We thought we were so cool riding around in that thing!

I recently saw an AMC Pacer on Craigslist for 350.00 and actually considered the possibilities. I once owned an orange AMC Hornet wagon, and the memory of that horrific experience served as an intervention. I did not see the Chevy Vega, which Car and Driver once said "redefines the word depreciation".

I was looking for the El Camino. Oh well. Great read anyway, as you say. That guy knows cars and can turn a phrase.

That's great! Hilarious descriptions. The most unique person I ever met collects Corvairs. My friend is a New Hampshire resident, has a Lakewood Wagon, , truck, and a fiberglass construction RV based on covair engine propulsion.... the UltraVan!! He towed a rather whipped UltraVan from Orlando to Northern N.H. on the back of a car carrier. I can't believe he made it!

I use to love fast cars. It is a miracle I am still alive. The first car I ever drove was a Road Runner and it would move. The horn even sounded like the road runner cartoon character..

I'll have to check out the list, but immediately, the Pontiac Fiero comes to mind. It wasn't quite a Ferrari, but they did make them in red, and the name was similar. :funn:

Remember the Ford Pinto (named after a bean -- go figure, or was it a wild horse?), which had problems blowing up when rear ended? My friend had one, and we nick-named him Bean.
This is a stylish Pinto

This one is more like my friend's:

Just found it in the list...
"The Pinto is at the end of one of autodom's most notorious paper trails, the Ford Pinto memo , which ruthlessly calculates the cost of reinforcing the rear end ($121 million) versus the potential payout to victims ($50 million). Conclusion? Let 'em burn."
Can you imagine that my friend, "Bean" actually had two cars on the Worst Cars List? Yep, the Chevy Chevette. Not quite a Corvette, but sounds similar.

Just peeked at the list. WTF is this?:

1966 Peel Trident
I thought Trident was a brand of chewing gum.

I would have guessed. Poor Mr. K bought a used one back in the late 80's. Beautiful car, but useless if you had to get anywhere. Many many electrical problems....I think he finally kept a spare battery in the trunk.

Sad!
Maybe he shoulda kept one of those red bubble cars in the trunk. One of my theatre kids drove one of those giant H2's. When we were in Scotland, he saw the little Smart cars and said he wanted one. I figured he was going to keep it in the back of the Hummer for emergencies...

In the TV studio scene in the movie "Diner", a commercial for the Renault Dauphin is playing on the monitor in the background.

That would be awesome for the Grayton 4th of July parade, or Sigourney Weaver could use that cycle to ride from space vermin in yet another remake of Alien.
