Remember the Ford Pinto (named after a bean -- go figure, or was it a wild horse?), which had problems blowing up when rear ended? My friend had one, and we nick-named him Bean.

This is a stylish Pinto

This one is more like my friend's:

Just found it in the list...

"The Pinto is at the end of one of autodom's most notorious paper trails, the Ford Pinto memo , which ruthlessly calculates the cost of reinforcing the rear end ($121 million) versus the potential payout to victims ($50 million). Conclusion? Let 'em burn."

Can you imagine that my friend, "Bean" actually had two cars on the Worst Cars List? Yep, the Chevy Chevette. Not quite a Corvette, but sounds similar.

I love the conversion van window with the Scooby Doo stripes on the Wagon. The wagon looks like someone is carrying gold bullion in the back!

I'll have to check out the list, but immediately, the Pontiac Fiero comes to mind. It wasn't quite a Ferrari, but they did make them in red, and the name was similar. :funn:

As usual with GM, they finally got these right with lots of HP and a 5 sp manual (actually had a 4 speed until the last year of production) stiffened up the whole set up and quit making them :idontno:

Same thing with the Cadillac Allante. Stiffened it up, dropped the 300+ HP Northstar engine in it and quit making them :idontno:

It's like a vehicular mullet!!!

I would have guessed. Poor Mr. K bought a used one back in the late 80's. Beautiful car, but useless if you had to get anywhere. Many many electrical problems....I think he finally kept a spare battery in the trunk.

I have always heard if you are going to buy a Jag, buy two...one to drive while the other is in the shop being repaired.

Gotta love google! Found a pic of my first and most favorite car. I bought this used 74 Ford Pinto Station Wagon Sport, used for $800 in 1982. It had been garage kept and had low mileage. It lasted four drunkken years of college, telephone poles, the side of the garage, a tree or two and countless ditches. Nothing to be proud of, and am surprised I didn't kill anybody or myself. Young, dumb and drunk. Terrifying.

Though I loved:wub: that car, the thought of what could have been sends chills down my spine.

I would haul a carload to concerts up to Cleveland all the time. The "Journey-mobile". It had two swivel speakers in the back for tailgate partays! Great stereo system. I miss it actually. Shame I killed it.:bang:

They left off two of my favorite awful vehicles, the Chevy LUV, which was an American truck with a bunch of Japanese parts, which were really hard to find, and the 70's-ish Mustang, which my brother says just about gelded the whole line of Mustangs:

How is this 1934 Chrysler much different from my 2006 Chrysler? Boy I can pick 'em can't I?

Glad we're both still here to talk about our 74 Pintos!

I saw one of these live and in carson at the First Friday Fest downtown Panama City. I loved it. Had a big crowd around it.

Its a 1956 Renault Dauphine.
"The most ineffective bit of French engineering since the Maginot Line, the Renault Dauphine was originally to be named the Corvette, tres ironie. It was, in fact, a rickety, paper-thin scandal of a car that, if you stood beside it, you could actually hear rusting. Its most salient feature was its slowness, a rate of acceleration you could measure with a calendar. It took the drivers at Road and Track 32 seconds to reach 60 mph, which would put the Dauphine at a severe disadvantage in any drag race involving farm equipment. The fact that the ultra-cheap, super-sketchy Dauphine sold over 2 million copies around the world is an index of how desperately people wanted cars. Any cars. "

I thought it was adorable. I don't think all the cars on this list were that bad. I think there are many that missed the list. I'm glad the DeLorean DMC is going to make a comeback. I loved it. I saw one in "carson" last year at a car show at Frank Brown Park. Cool car.

I'm a car "funatic".

The Chevy LUV was a rebadged ISUZU. During the 80s, Chevrolet took the Nova name and slapped it on the Toyota Corolla. Just like today's Pontiac Vibe is really a rebadged Toyota Matrix.

I bet GM does the same with the Pontiac Solstice. What a lame name. Ford Probe.?? Acura Vigor??
