Be aware that it is officially mating season for the Love Bugs. Today, I began seeing tourists' cars covered in smeared Love Bugs. If you hope to see through your windshield, pull out the old hat of tricks, one of which is to use plenty of Rain-X on your windshield, which won't repel them from splattering, but it will make clean up easier. Fill those windshield washer fluid tanks on your cars, and replace those worn out wiper blades. It could save you from crashing your car. As a reminder, the splattered bugs get more difficult to come off, the longer you leave them on your car. Get it washed ASAP. Beachy Clean Car Wash is open on Hwy 98, near the western end of 30A, but slightly to the east of that intersection.

I always wondered why they committed suicide prior to the laying of the eggs,

I'll have some of my friends with young children call and explain that one to you.

and how the population continues to prosper with so many deaths prior to laying eggs.

That is interesting--obviously they don't all commit suicide before they lay eggs, right?:idontno:

It seems that you and I may be underestimating how satisfying it is to fly and mate at the same time...

Since this thread has already derailed..............Is it still the mile high club if you are above 5,280 ft, or does it have to be in an airplane?

Why is it that bugs tend to be so violent in the act? Black widows, banana slugs, praying mantis, scorpions, bedbugs, flatworms, honeybees...

Better Rain-X yourself too! I walked my furbabies at the Fla. stateline and I was covered in the little boogers too! I sorta had to do the shimmy-shake to get them off of me so I could get back in my trucklette! I've never seen this many before.

Explanation and/or pictures, please? I don't know what this is, but it's going in our glossary.

From a REAL old-timer (no, not me, OLDER) in ref.."lovebugs"---

"We used to call them "Telephone Bugs"...they say Hello...then Hang Up"

(and, once they are on your car...a moist 'Bounce' or other Fabric softner
sheet will take 'em off)...might have to do a little 're-waxing' , but beats a
paint job>...

Get the 91% alcohol, which is found at mostly at pharmacies. Grocery stores typically have only the 70%. The 91% also works as a good fuel source for cooking on a homemade camp stove, which should come in very handy in a power outage after a hurricane, though with two engineering boy scout peeps in your house, you should have no worries during an emergency.

Hopefully the boyscouts will remember the part about not using any kind of fuel burning stove in a house. Hate to see you make it thru a hurricane only to die of suffocation. :trainwreck:

The out of towners to whom I refer are the tourists, not the bugs. The bugs mostly affect the tourists, because they are driving at high rates of speed, and splatter more bugs than the people who are driving slower speeds around here.

At what point has a tourist ever driven at a high rate of speed down 30A?
