Third time of hearing gun shots off E. Pt. Washington and Cabbage Rose Ln.!! Deputies came out (45 minutes later with a bad attitude) and pretty much said "oh well". . It is not from State park hunters, it is within probably 100 yds. from my house and my neighbor who knows guns says it sounds like a .357. If anyone in the area of Cabbage Rose Ln. hears these oh too frequent shots, usually around 9:00-10:00 PM - PLEASE call sheriffs dpt. and have them make someone accountable, where are the bullets landing???

Thank you for leaving out my state. It's full of rednecks, too, but I'd hate to have to whup you for pointing it out.
The retired wealthy live on the edges and in the bigger towns, from what I've seen. I spent a summer working at a camp in Central Florida. (Oklawaha--18 minutes by ambulance from Ocala--yes, there is a story there--and a little closer to Leesburg, home of the closest movie theater, but no hospital.) The residents of the area were downright scary. They seemed to be the type of people who thought "Deliverance" was a funny sort of movie.
 I just want pictures of you dancing.

I cannot imagine this as being so with all the retired wealthy people that live throughout Florida.
I can tell you for a fact certain areas of Memphis are considered redneck and white trash, not to mention worse. And gang activity is rampant here.
I don't agree with the wealthy part as some friends of mine live in Regatta Bay and the wife sleeps with a 9mm under her pillow. They moved there from Blue Water Bay, cause the guy next door was "a gun nut".

That would be way too lumpy for me...She must not be a real princess.

It's illegal to discharge a firearm in Walton County? That doesn't seem to jibe with the general culture or the Sheriff offering various firearms courses including "tactical home defense."
What are the rules on firearms? The only think I could find on the Sheriff's website was that you could carry a gun in your vehicle if it wasn't "readily accessible and was properly encased" and you should get a concealed weapons permit if you are taking your gun off your property.
Well, that and the answer to "why do cops always associated with doughnut shops"?

I was under the impression that the State of Florida had one of the most lenient gun laws in the US now. (Shoot first, ask ?s later) and that as long as you were on your property that it wasnt against the law.
I am providing a link to the FL statutes and from what I can tell the local level has to abide by these also...

I know this is sad but is it duck or turkey hunting season yet? Maybe that's what all the boom boom is about. The hunters get too close to houses sometimes.
I've been hearin' some around here too.

You can do everything right about picking out a place to live, and still be tormented by any one neighbor. That's very frustrating. So so true!!!!!!!! I have a new neighbor that is bring down the whole area with his junk and rebel flags... he likes to fire his gun around 10pm too and I know he's aiming right at my pond area. I wish I knew the answer, the deputy has been out several times, but no actual law has been broken.

I live on Georgie St and I have heard the same shots at about the same time....makes me really uneasy. I can't think of any reason this should be happening at 9-10 pm. Seems there is always a "nut bag" in every neighborhood. this nut bag must live pretty close to me too because those shots were LOUD!

Yeah...I hate guns and gunshots too. But hey..forget West Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama and forget Kentucky. Florida is by far the most redneck, white trash state in all of the union. Are you really surprised little E. Point Washington? I mean come on!!! Wake up!
Where'd you get your data?

I just want to say never underestimate what someone will do especially when angry and drinking. I only wish we would have called the police to take care of it....you just never expect someone to be walking around with a .357 in their baggy pants pocket.
The trial was far worse then the shooting. I was in shock at the shooting...but during the trial I became the one fighting for my life. The worse part really was having to go back and live in the house for the next 3 months. I sold everything in the house and moved. My eldest daughter has had such trauma from this she will never have trust for anyone. The pain is too great to even talk about.
Thank you so much for your concern.....I felt compelled to let people know what can happen in certain circumstances, and that location sometimes does not mean safety.

Well sowalgayboi, there are many wealthy people down there, I am referring to retirees more than anything. Sorry, I am not familiar with Regatta Bay at all. We have guns in our home also. We have a 32 pistol that is loaded and kept under our mattress but we've yet to have anyone try to break in to our home.

I would prefer to do just that if I wasn't in bed and knew where in the he.. it was coming from, the sheriff's dpt. can't find them after 3 "episodes" and probably don't care,, agreeably, speaking with them would produce better results than the wcsd pounding on their door...

Hey T,
One of the things thst p'd me off was the attitude of the dpty. that finally showed up and went to my neighbors house after I told him they where asleep and told them that I was "too drunk " to give him information about the facts when I had JUST had 1 drink prior to his arrival...beimg a little rattled!!! WCSD needs to learn some manners.....

In what way is Florida more diverse? Not all of Tn is redneck, white trash by any means.I'm not knocking Memphis. My wife was born on Lookout Mt., and we were married in Kingsport, Tn. I lived two and one half years in Jackson TN,. and know Memphis up and down. Given all that, I can say, having lived most of my life in Florida, that Florida is more diverse from Pensacola to Key West than Memphis to Bristol. It's not meant as an insult. Florida is more like S. California than almost any other southern state. Maybe I should post some U.S. Census Bureau stuff.
As to who breaks the law, certainly it is not limited to a class of people, wealthy well to do, break the laws as often, I really do not like to label anyone.

Did I indicate my neighborhood had prestigious warranties? I am simply trying to say that it is obviously not a hunter , and shooting off a .357 at 10:00 at night worries me being that I have had the "unpleasant" gift of having the s... beat out of me 4 months ago. A dog barking is o.k. . I've had a man w/ a gun to a womans head on my back porch 5'ft. from me in my last "prestigious" neighborhood", if that is what you think makes a distinction.

I did not take it as a knock on anything and right now I would be the first to say that Memphis has serious problems, but was just curious as to your definition of diversity.

Are these single shots, or multiple "machine-gun" type shots? And how close to the Bay are you?
If it's a machine-gun, I know who it is and I'll ask him to stop, since we have neighbors now.

As I said before, the guy I had living next door to me (so close that I could smell the gunpowder if I ventured outside) did it at that time of night and they wouldnt even come out to my house after the first few times I called.
