Two black tie events, two nights in a row, two different cities. One in Tampa the other in O-town. Different people at each event. I will definitely be going shopping, but don't want to break the bank. Should I shop for one stupendously fabulous dress or try to find two somewhat less fabulous ones? WWBBD? :idontno:

This never happens to me. :floor:

Guys don't remember clothes. The question is, will there be any of the same female attendees, and do you care? In O'town, kevlar is in fashion.

Find one stupendously fabulous one, and wear it to both.

Also find other excuses/occasions to wear it. The more you wear it, the less expensive it becomes. (Total girl logic, but it works.)

There is your answer.

I'd go to Neiman's and pick one super dress to wear to both events. Or either be a rebel, go to a funky boutique, and find something really unique that doesn't cost a boatload of money, yet people think it cost a boatload due to its uniqueness.

I'm with PV. Wear the same one with different accessories/jewelry.

I think this is a great idea. My choice.

TFT, would O-town happen to be Oldsmar or Ozona? ;)

I can make you one designer Puffs and one Kleenex in different colors? :D
Buy yourself a smashing dress and enjoy being child-free. You deserve it.

Totally agree. About the dress AND the logic.

TFT, same dress but different shoes, jewelry, purse, and even lipstick each night = two really different outfits. If you have more than one wrap in your wardrobe, that helps too. And do your hair slightly different one night from the other.

You're going to have so much funn! We went to a black tie event two weeks ago and the people watching was wonderful. I saw some gowns that made my jaw drop (in a nice way). Black is still queen of the evening for women, at least in the Midwest.

Ummm ... no. If someone is at both AND they notice that means I'm rocking a fabulous dress. Which makes my decision easier.

I am all about this kind of logic.

We have some great boutiques, and I think there's a good sale at Neiman's going on now.

Very impressive recall of Florida geography. Actually it's Ocala.

 Thanks Mangy. Will you come babysit so I can do some proper shopping?

Mermy! I NEVER GO ANYWHERE. I don't have one wrap, much less two. It is too exhausting to think about changing everything up. My big concern is not getting Spaghettios smeared on me on the way out. I do have these shoes though:

And this clutch.

Metallics are hot in FL.

I'd go with the one stupendously fabulous dress. Love the shoes and purse. Otherwise, I'd just go shopping in BB's closet and wear a different outfit, and matching tiara every hour of each event. :funn:

 Come on over! If TFT lived closer I'd dress her myself!

TFT love the shoes and purse. I would choose one stunning gown/dress and wear them both nights. Nothing better than a beautiful dress that makes you feel spectacular. What color are you thinking and what style? Is it cocktail dress or evening gown? What style do you like?

I just got the WWBBD?!:clap::clap::funn::funn:

IBD how did you know? :D

I found this one by Laundry and I think it would be great with the shoes, clutch and fabulous jewelry. One of my fave colors:

I also like this one from Sue Wong. The beading looks very interesting when I zoom in on it.

Both events are black tie so a gown seems appropriate. Nothing too foofy though. I wish BB could be my personal shopper.

Both of those are gorgeous! Does the bottom one have silver in it too? Hard to tell in the pic.. I think I like the green one best. Especially with your accessories.

Definitely the green one!

I also vote for one great dress w/ different accessories instead of 2 so-so dresses!

Actually, pm Beach Jacket. She *is* a personal shopper (her part-time job while finishing her degree at Georgia Tech.

Oh, and did I say she plans to move to Gainesville and go to grad school at THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA next fall to become a psychotherapist? Glad she decided against med school -- too much stress.

She still should have pursued an artistic career (like web design) IMO. That's where her greatest skills lie.

Both dresses are gorgeous but I too think your shoes and clutch would look better with the first (green) dress. I'm sure you will be a knock-out in either dress.

Green!!

I'll do my best.

Okay, so I went shopping! Since everyone loved the green dress I figured that meant I needed to keep it simple stupid and find something easy and elegant. Our local Saks did not have the Laundry green dress but the nice lady there pulled a bunch of similar gowns in teals and blues and I got to have funn trying them all on. I am the queen of online and hurry-up shopping for boring things, so it was really nice to play dress up!!

There were a lot of great choices, but I found a gown that is perfect for both occasions and will not require alterations or Spanx. It is by BCBG and it is in a drapey jersey fabric and in this color, called China Blue. It is NOT this dress though, just the color.

The color is key because in the only online picture I can find it is in black. Here is the dress. Because it's shown in black you can't see all the drapeyness (similar to the Laundry dress), but you can see it has a sparkly brooch thing at the bodice, which is perfect with my shoes and bag.

It is a bit longer on me and gives me a nice lean line. Plus it is classic and something I will likely be able to wear again! (More justification :D)

Now I just need some big long sparkly earrings.

This is one of those cases where online shopping definitely does NOT work. I would never have chosen it.

Thank you SoWallers for steering me in the right direction!
