Saying Goodbye to My Furbaby

My heart is breaking.
Our big fat loveable Tabby cat Roobie who we have loved and "found" MANgo 14 years was diagnosed with throat cancer about 6 weeks ago, and he has gotten to the point where we decided that tomorrow we will most likely say goodbye to him so he doesn't suffer. Today he didn't eat his food, and his breathing is labored.
He's chatty, meets and greets everyone, always purring and looks happy, (even now) and has been the only pet my nephews who live locally have known.
Even though we have been preparing ourselves for this, it still hurts.

I'm so sorry Mango. I know what it is like to have to say goodbye to a pet. Especially when you have to humanely make the decision to end it for them as we did our Mo. It was the most painful thing we ever had to do. I still cry over him so I totally understand. I'm sitting here crying over this. You will be sparing your furbaby any more suffering and will be doing the right thing. Take care Mango. I will be thinking about you.

I'm so sorry, Mango. Roobie sounds like he's been a good friend. This might be one of the hardest things you'll ever have to do but you are doing the right thing. Be strong.

I just tucked my 13-year-old furbaby in his crib (the one I thought was dead a few weeks ago!) We lost his sister a couple of years ago, and we're both still heartbroken. I'm so sorry...

I have another story that my neighbors and I still laugh about till this day about Roobie. We were grilling hamburgers and my next door neighbors dog Toto came over for a handout which she had done before. Roobie wouldn't have anyone dipping into his burgers now, so he chased Toto all the back home. He weighed about 22 lbs at the time. We could hear my other neighbor belly laugh so hard, because a) he never saw a cat chase a dog, and b) he didn't think Roobie could run that fast.
Roobie kept Toto trapped behind some lattice near his house for 2 hrs.

The remaining cat, Hoot, is the one who found Jesus. I'm not sure about his sister, Anny. Our other strictly ornamental cat is still unsaved, as far as I can tell. I don't think he has enough of a brain to handle religion.

Roobie has his own cat named Pippi. I think she'll miss him. He won't miss her though.

This makes me love Roobie even more...I love when pets have pets!

So sorry Mangy. I've never had a cat but I've had sweet, sweet dogs and know how much a loving companion is missed. I will be thinking of you tomorrow.

I am up at this ungodly hour with my own furbaby, who's having another flare up. Just know that if you think it is time, it was probably time a week ago, and you are doing the stronger, wiser, kinder thing by making him comfortable.
