This may be covered in another thread already. (I'm in the middle of a 10,000 page research paper, so I'm sklurking.)

How many of you have your trees up and the lights on the gutters already?

Who are the late-lighters? Who doesn't bother with decorations? (coughSJcoughcough)

And who wants to puke when they play Christmas music on Halloween? Or are you like one of my well-to-do-clients who leaves a tree up all year?

Spill it. I have the Christmas movies going while I write...

Friday's the day in the dd household.

Poor son in law drew the short straw this year. He gets to help me. As most of you know, mr. dd refuses to do "exterior illumination", so it's up to me, but I'm getting too old to climb on ladders and dismount from them safely, so this is where Jason comes in. The weather's supposed to be crap too...:bang:
I think I might be getting up early to shop a little too...:idontno:
Love Christmas music...would listen all year and sometimes DO in July.
After the outdoors, comes the indoors which takes a couple of days. I've gotta buy a new tree for the den this year...(No, BB I never ordered that tree we talked about..procrastination struck.

Then, I'm gonna work on my ornament...

So darling, NH, that's my plan and I'm stickin' to it.

What's that? I had to look up ymmv and the origin of blog, so please explain sklurking? :idontno:

Two pine trees right outside my door have lights year round, however, you can not see them if they are not lit and with new growth in spring. Does that count as red necky? The rest if the lights go up after t-giving.

And who wants to puke when they play Christmas music on Halloween? Or are you like one of my well-to-do-clients who leaves a tree up all year?
 Gulls like DD and I listen to Xmas music all year.

I love fall colors, especially orange. I love the Thanksgiving season and don't like to see it passed over by people putting up Christmas decorations on the day after Halloween. I don't like to put up any Christmas decorations until the first weekend in December. Unfortunately, since the vendors started selling trees last weekend, I am forced to buy a tree this week in order to find one that doesn't look wimpy in our large living room with high ceilings. However, I refuse to decorate it until December 1.

Tree is up but lights are not on yet. The nieces are coming Friday to decorate it & bake cookies. No exterior illumination - I am too lazy!

And yes I'd like to puke when I hear Christmas songs at Halloween. I will be ready for Christmas songs in a couple weeks.

But I can't wait to watch A Christmas Story tomorrow.

Yay...I like that plan.

You like that? I made it up. I don't have time to truly lurk, so I skim the threads. Skim + Lurk = Sklurk.

As a landscaper, I accept year-round lights on trees. Too much of a pain/too dangerous/too harmful to the trees to put them on & take them off every year. However, every effort should be made to be sure that the wires blend with the tree and that they aren't so tight that they girdle the bark. Thus sayth NoitHall.

I was talking about radio stations. Popping in Xmas CDs during the year is perfectly okay by me.

p.s. Finished my 12-page literature review for my stupid %$#@! paper! Be sure to send me your email addresses so I can send all of you a copy for Christmas! :puke:

I am sitting here with my wine and this Grapevine Golden remembering a Thanksgiving we traveled to Grapevine and made the dinner at our son's apartment. We drove around after dark admiring the lovely homes and lights, sure wish I knew DD at that time. Thankfully we are home in MO now except that son is in Tulsa with his family and in-laws. What great memories and how blessed. Hopefully, we will travel to South Walton on Christmas Eve with children, grandchilden, Grandma and Goldens in tow. I wish a blessed holiday season for everyone on this board! You have no idea what you all mean to me!

i'm not allowed to help decorate because i am "too messy and too random" whatever the heck that is....

which is fine by me because i could really care less whether we even have a tree.... all that is in mr audie's domain....

We are certainly not well-to-do - but we never took our tree down from last year - for several reasons.

1. No place to put it- it's 10 ft. tall.
2. Adds cheer when it is dark and the lights are on- even in summer.
3. Bdarg and I don't have to have the annual biatching session about the lights.
4. Easy to clean- drag it outside and hit it with the leaf blower to knock a year's worth of dust off before decorating.
5. I'll decorate it when I get around to it.

Man...I wish you had too!! You coulda gone "light lookin'" with us!!! It's quite an occasion. Sunkist's bff gets to be the dd this year...she's preggers...we take the bailey's and coffee and hit the streets--makes our season!

DD: your "exterior illumination" story cracks me up :funn:

I love Christmas lights...ALL Year Round! I am in a state of appreciation & awe of people who actually DO decorate, even though I have not personally decorated for several years.

For anyone who hasn't experienced the joy of DeFuniak Spring's Lake Lights Event ... be sure to put it on your MUST DO list!!

Tomorrow starts the decorating. Drives me crazy when people decorate before Thanksgiving. My neighbor's tree has been up for a week. I do understand when people are having out of town company and like the house decorated for them.

Why does it take so freakin' long to put ornaments on a tree? Can someone send some little elves over?

Do it! It is beautiful. I was so surprised at how beautiful that area is.

We put up the tree at the beach house Thanksgiving weekend. It is white with all kinds of funn beachy ornaments.

The house here is the 'Ham is up....but still not decorated. We don't do outdoor lights anymore, just don't have time.

The clinic is another story. FFF has been buying animated animals for years and years and people come to the clinic just to see all of those. That is decorated the week after Thanksgiving. Done. Monday there was a 3 year old having a very serious conversation with Santa. Precious. Made it all worth doing.

I'm with BR.....I love Thanksgiving and hate to see it get passed over. Can't stand to see the Christmas stuff come out before Halloween. Makes me cringe!

DD....I got the pink tree....it's at the clinic in my office!! Gorgeous! I like to just sit in my office and turn the lights off and see my pink tree. The bulbs are pink! It is not decorated yet....can't find ornaments I like.
