This may be covered in another thread already. (I'm in the middle of a 10,000 page research paper, so I'm sklurking.)
How many of you have your trees up and the lights on the gutters already?
Who are the late-lighters? Who doesn't bother with decorations? (coughSJcoughcough)
And who wants to puke when they play Christmas music on Halloween? Or are you like one of my well-to-do-clients who leaves a tree up all year?
Spill it. I have the Christmas movies going while I write...

the outside of the house is finished, as is the inside, the tree is sitting in living room, waiting.
So everything but the tree is finished. I do not begin until Dec. 1.

Why does it take so freakin' long to put ornaments on a tree? Can someone send some little elves over?
p.s. Here's my "angel..." hee, hee--
Looks like she has big fuzzy tata's too.

(I'm in the middle of a 10,000 page research paper, so I'm sklurking.)Even though I mostly burned out after being responsible for overseeing the Seasonal Decorations for two buildings, 40,000sf and 60,000 sf, plus outdoor decorations, I still managed to get a little decorating done this year.

I'll have you know that I now have sleighbells hanging from my front door to remind everyone in the neighborhood that it is Christmas I mean Shopping, Season. I also have some lights twisted through some greenery over the mantle, and I have already begun making some Christmas gifts, in addition to buying a couple at Perpetual Imagination. All that, and, I'm thinking about wearing some socks, soon. I haven't had an excuse to break out the Snowmen coffee cups, put when the high temps go no higher than 65F degrees, I might throw them on the table.
Now what were you saying?

Oh dear GAWD...nothing says "Merry Christmas" like SJ wearing socks!

(I was only referring to your refusal to have a tree...clearly I was wrong to assume that you didn't decorate just because you don't put up a tree!)

Do it! It is beautiful. I was so surprised at how beautiful that area is.
We put up the tree at the beach house Thanksgiving weekend. It is white with all kinds of funn beachy ornaments.
The house here is the 'Ham is up....but still not decorated. We don't do outdoor lights anymore, just don't have time.
The clinic is another story. FFF has been buying animated animals for years and years and people come to the clinic just to see all of those. That is decorated the week after Thanksgiving. Done. Monday there was a 3 year old having a very serious conversation with Santa. Precious. Made it all worth doing.
I'm with BR.....I love Thanksgiving and hate to see it get passed over. Can't stand to see the Christmas stuff come out before Halloween. Makes me cringe!
DD....I got the pink tree....it's at the clinic in my office!! Gorgeous! I like to just sit in my office and turn the lights off and see my pink tree. The bulbs are pink! It is not decorated yet....can't find ornaments I like.
Studio 56 has funky colorful ornaments that might be fitting for a pink tree

Oh dear GAWD...nothing says "Merry Christmas" like SJ wearing socks!I have close to a hundred in the yard. Why on Earth would I need to chop one down to bring it inside and kill it? I forgot to tell you about one of the things that I taught to one of my dogs. We call the trick, "bring the firewood," but I stopped short on the training after moving into a house without the firewood. The dog now drags small trees, bushes or limbs as part of his job task. He is great for helping clear vines or overgrown bushes, and he obviously is very proud of this job. I am concerned that he might take it too far, and put the Xmas tree in the gas fireplace and light it.

That would spell trouble. The other dog would just have a wee on the tree.
Either way, plenty of trees to admire and I can see yard decorations reflect across the water from my back yard. It is like they are in my own backyard, except I don't have to put up and take down the decorations, nor do I pay their power bill. ;-) You know that we Realtors have to get a little frugal these days.hmmmm......can't rememberAuthor

We landscapers have a lot of dead trees these days...

I've never liked the idea of chopping down a tree to put in the house, either. And I guess that I get enough of the great outdoors when I'm in the great outdoors. When I was a kid, we spent a lot of time splitting and stacking firewood--handling trees wasn't exactly "festive." And putting the tree together was always one of my favorite parts of Christmas--I guess that comes from being the little sister of a future engineer...
Pretty cool trick with the dogs! (You must not have the dumb kind.) My cat will bring me specific dead animals...

1.5 trees lit and decorated. Snowman village up! Stockings hung over the door since we don't have a fireplace this year. Manger scene done. Nothing on the outside since our association is a bunch of holiday hating NAZI's. No I'm not bitter, just a little peeved.
