Seen any good movies?

This weekend Indiana got whallopped with Rita Rains, torrential downpours, so we curled up in front of the TV and watched movies!

TAXI with Queen Latifah was funny. She's a wild taxi driver in NYC, paired up with an inept cop. If you like car movies, this is a good one!

CRASH So sad, so sad, very intense movie that sticks with you a long time.

We haven't been to the "real" movies in a while. I'm waiting for them to build one on 30-A....

I started watching the weekly show "Invasion" last week (in Michigan it's on at 10:00 PM on Wednesdays) and thought it was very good. I was looking for a weekly drama to watch. It's about a town that has a hurricane, but it looks like the hurricane is really a way for aliens to take over people's bodies. Sounds creepy (and it is) but you feel like you're watching small town America when it's on (nothing drastic, nothing but slightly creepy looks and happenings so far). Looks like the aliens are taking over the body of a physician/mother (and her husband -- second husband -- is kind of creepy so he's probably already an alien) and a priest. The doctor's first husband, a friend, and the woman's littel girl know that something strange is going on but don't know what. I'll look forward to watching it this Wednesday.

I'm with you. Looks good waiting for DVD. Did you see "Under the Tuscan Sun"? That's a great movie. Probably a chick flick, but since I'm a "chick" it works for me.;-)

If you haven't seen it, you also may enjoy "Return to Me". Really good little movie. Have your hankie ready.

Who has time to watch movies? I'd rather be on SoWal!!! Anyway, I have just finished the 1st season DVD of Desperate Housewives! I am so behind the times! I wondered what all the fuss was about and since we had a rainy weekend, I took advantage and watched almost the whole first season!

I think I get the hoo haa now . . . Kinda like watching Dallas and Knots Landing many, many years ago (for those of you that remember!)

If you want to forget about all the world's troubles for a while, go see "The 40 Year Old Virgin." Absolutely hysterical (in a very adult way) but, believe it or not, a very sweet love story to boot.

After we got past the hokey hurricane scenes we started to like this show. Creepy. I get skeered a lot easier than I used to. I won't be watching this alone. LOL

Paula if you want a weekly series to get into you need to watch LOST!!!! It's soooo good.

Thanks so much for the welcome - been lurking around here for awhile and just had to chime in on the movie recommendation. Watching the news the last few weeks has been just surreal and it was so nice to escape it for a few hours!

I've been interested in Lost as well, but never watched it last year so I don't know if I missed too much of the show's history already. But my husband gets the kids to bed on Wednesday nights, so maybe I'll watch both Lost and Invasion and read magazines and have a little ice-cream...or maybe go upscale and have a little wine, pate, and cheese. I haven't looked forward to any shows in particular for several years, except that our family likes to watch sitcoms such as Hope and Faith, According to Jim, and My Wife and Kids together and we enjoy those shows together very much.

Oh my, looks like I need to check in a little more often! Thanks for more welcomes, you sure are a friendly group! I don't get the sausages remark, either. Anyway, I post on several forums and some of the folks I am chummy with call me LBH for short, but, boy, I loved the other "translations," especially the "late, but hungover" one - that's really me. As for the username, not really a story to go with it; I'm Linda, he's Bob and the word Hat is prominent in our last name; and it's always me doing the posting. If he's online, he's working, the poor man - he hasn't learned to enjoy the computer. Des Plaines (which gets a pretty American pronunciation around here) is a suburb of Chicago. My fascination with the board stems from 2 fairly recent trips to the Panhandle - first to PCB and then to Destin. Next time we hope to "get it right" and stay somewhere in between!

I've been interested in Lost as well, QUOTE]

They do have the whole first season on DVD...you could have a LOST marathon. I think you would be quite lost if you picked it up now. They do flashbacks in each episode explaining the characters background etc. Before this show there wasn't a drama that I've gotten into in a few years.
