I should add this to another reason I love winter.
Anyone have a good remedy? Mr OL would say I need to drink more water and I do agree with him but for right now I need something.
I've tried so many products ---other than the obvious chap sticks, blistik stuff, what do you use that works? My latest is aquafor. I thought it was working but today my lips are more chapped than ever.

I find if I apply the stuff at night before bed it seems to help just a bit, but not much. But after about a week of consistently doing this they tend to get better.

Carmex!
I'm addicted.
And Neosporin's medicated chappy stick is really good, too!

Burt's Bee Medicated lip Balm. Bought it for MANgo and it worked wonders.
CVS is selling the Burt's Bee line now, but you can also get it in health stores too. They have a bunch of different ones. I use the Pomegranite. Yummy.

I bought some for Sam before Christmas. I just looked in her room and can't find it....I have a variety of lip balm scattered throughout the house, my purse and the car but can I find any? Grr..I did find some Bath & Body CO Bigelow mentha lip shine. At least my lips feel tingly and minty.

carmex has not worked that well for me in the past.
But thanks...I make my own. Would you like me to make you a batch?
Seriously? Yes, I'd love some.

I knew you were going to say this? What is in your brand?
I make several different variations, depending on what's in the house, but I prefer the following:
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Bees Wax
SoWal Honey
Lanolin
Essential Oils of Rosemary and Peppermint
Ocean Lover, I'll wait until my Lab Technician isn't sick before I make a small batch, then I'll send some your way.

http://www.nakedbee.bzI started on Carmex years ago, then, I was a blistex green addict for years. Then I switched to Burt's Bees. Then I was down there about 6 months ago and grabbed some called Naked Bee. I love it. I must get some more cuz I'm scraping the bottom of my tube with my fingernail now. It's the best I ever had. It is sooo smoooth and non drying too. JR, is the Dermatone what skiiers use in Colorado? I see the mts. on the tin.
Wonder if it comes in a stick too? I'll look it up. I'm always looking for grayt sunblock for my gull to carry in her purse for her SCLE rash. Thanks.
Okay, I fixed the linky. Anyhow, it's Naked Bee Lip Balm.

I'm on prescription Denorex for my lips at this point, but if they ever finish healing, this will be a handy thread.

I can tell you some stories! I have kept Hawaiian Tropic 45 sunscreen chapstick in business for the past 10 years. I run with them (in Michigan winters too!), go to the beach with them, keep one on my nightstand, and keep one in the car.
I have THE most sensitive lips. I am the person who would get 30 cold sores from weather change or stress. I was first chair flute for a concert in Middle School and not only did I get them on the top lip, I got them on the bottom too.
When I was pregnant with my daughter and went to Florida, I had the worst break-out ever. My doctor said to put on zinc oxide after that.
When I went to Modica's Market my first trip here, I picked up the Hawaian Tropic chapstick and it worked! I have been hooked since.
Carmex makes my lips tingle (not in a good way, but that's just my lips!)
I have used everything, but nothing has worked as well as the HT!

Avon's Lip Balm is excellent, and very popular.

Hey,
I don't know if you are in Sowal or not. But we swear by the Patchouli's brand lip balm. We use it when we are down there and then bring some home with us. We have even had them ship it out to us. The stuff is great! Call them they are at Gulf Place! They are super nice! Good Luck!

I was on accutane as a teenager (actually going back on it soon. bummer.) and it made my lips really chapped. The Aquaphor worked really well, but I had to apply it very frequently.
The stuff John R suggested is AWESOME.
I'm also a big fan of Burt's Bees weatherproofing lip balm.

I swear by Chapstick - cherry or strawberry only!
It makes your lips feel better/less rough if you rub them w/ a wet washcloth. Think of it as a gentle lip loofah, but it gets rid of that dry/sandpapery feel.

Oh Supermom, I get cold sores too but usually only one at a time and less frequently now that I'm older. My sister had 10 at one time when she was around 10 years old. It was awful...I think it was summertime and the sun triggered them. I'm going to try everyone's suggestions.

Supermom and OL--I get the fever blisters/cold sores too. Hate 'em. Mostly triggered by the sun. That's why whenever you see me on the beach, you'll see that I have on tons of crap on my lips. Damn herpes.
