Remember my post about Nana and PaPa "hitting SoWal". Well..........that happened this a.m. PaPa was allowed to go turn the beloved Benz SUV around and back into the garage so he could pack up,as today was come home day. Apparently, he confused the brake and gas and took off the side of our house along with the back of the Benz!

We are waiting on a friend to go over and make a picture and e-mail it so we can actually see the damage. NaNa's in hysterics. PaPa just repeats over and over, "I'm screwed." All in all it's been a fun morining. Good side of the story, aside from the abuse he will have heaped on him from Seacrest Beach to Asheville, NC he's fine! We may fly him home.

I've seen that a few times. When I was a small kid, even I did a similar thing on the go-cart when I ran over my own arm. I thought the brake was the gas and continued to do more damage to my arm which was getting chewed up by the chain sprocket and tire. :bang: I thought the same thing, "Boy am I screwed." I was in pain, but I did not want my parents to take away the go cart. Tell Pops to keep it in perspective. He did not run over another person.;-)

It's not him it's the M-I-L. We aren't worried about the house. It'll get fixed. As soon as we knew no one was hurt we were fine. Let's just say it won't be a pleasant trip home for him.

We may need to a few suggestions on someone to repair it. We are still waiting on our friend to get over to make pictures for us. We told him for his own protection to wait until they left.:floor:

Wow! You are a big guy! Cute though! I thought my son was big at 8lbs 14.5 ozs and 22 inches long! He was born on May 21, 1982.

Our little Camden is up to 4lbs 13.5 ozs. About the size of your right foot in this photo! :clap_1:

Thanks for sharing BS. I'm sure NaNa and PaPa will be fine. Poor PaPa will catch he!! :whack: for the next few months, but this too shall pass.

Oh GTTBM- y'all have a high threshold for excitement! Are you going to tell Paw Paw that a small nation knows of his mishap? You must be a very relaxed human 'cause you seem to be handling this very well!

The amazing thing is how calm GTTBD has been. However, our priorities and focus shifted totally 11/7 at 5:12 pm. Baby Camden is #1. As soon as we knew they were both fine we just looked at each other and shrugged. It's just stuff and stuff can be fixed.

Baby C will not be joining us today as hoped. Can't quite get the body temp. regulated. But we'll be ready for him when he does come home!

Between my mother, my sister, my grandma, my ex-wife, and me, we wrecked more cars in the driveway than most people. It is usually at least two cars of your own that have boo-boos when you crash in your own driveway. My grandma once injured three cars in one shot. She backed into one of my dad's cars, then pulled forward while looking in the mirror at the one she backed into, and front-ended my mom's car. My mom has had quite a few wrecks in the driveway. She once totalled a Lincoln Towncar (big motha) in the driveway. My mom has taught me that, sometimes, things like that really don't mean much. :D

I need a "shaking the head smiley".

GTTBM, I hope your papa is tough and can tune it out.

My little sister did that. Hit the gas and drove right through the garage door!
She was so embarassed.

Here is another example of the same thing:

When I was living in Athens, I recall reading the cover page story in the Banner Herald of a little lady, probably over 80 yrs old running into the Chick-fil-a. Unfortunately for her, the photo of her using her walking cane to scrape the glass off the hood of her car took up the top half of the front page. She was approaching the traffic light and hit the gas instead of the brake. She had it floored and went across two lanes of traffic, jumped a 5 inch concrete curb, ran over bushes for about 20 feet before ramming into the big glass windows of Chick-fil-a. Luckily there were no people sitting at the table which she took out.

I think the story of your Pops in law is much more common than your M to the I to the L believes. Give that guy a hug.

I remember that!!! She zoomed across Alps, from Baxter Street and slammed through the front of the Chic-Fil-A. The funny thing is, there is a dip when you enter that intersection so it mush have only aided her in functioning as a ramp! This happened when my mom was working on her Masters at UGA, I remember it quite well.

GTTBM tell your PaPa not to feel too badly. When I was in my thirties, I smashed in the roof of a brand new Beemer 5-Series because I didn't allow enough time for the garage door to go up. I really thought it was up. (That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! ) I'm such a moron sometimes!

But for a person over 50, that would be a "senior moment." I've heard worse. One of my former colleagues got the accelerator and brakes mixed up and crashed her car through the front of the post office. It made the front page of the newspaper. Even worse, my Mom's best friend's Dad ran over and killed his wife in their driveway. So sad.

I actually drove through our garage door twice in our old house! "I too thought the door was up!;-)" But no one was hurt so.........although we have a few calls from our neighbors down there. Their response? "Holy Crap!" Still waiting on the pics!
