Remember my post about Nana and PaPa "hitting SoWal". Well..........that happened this a.m. PaPa was allowed to go turn the beloved Benz SUV around and back into the garage so he could pack up,as today was come home day. Apparently, he confused the brake and gas and took off the side of our house along with the back of the Benz!
We are waiting on a friend to go over and make a picture and e-mail it so we can actually see the damage. NaNa's in hysterics. PaPa just repeats over and over, "I'm screwed." All in all it's been a fun morining. Good side of the story, aside from the abuse he will have heaped on him from Seacrest Beach to Asheville, NC he's fine! We may fly him home.

I actually drove through our garage door twice in our old house! "I too thought the door was up!;-)" But no one was hurt so.........although we have a few calls from our neighbors down there. Their response? "Holy Crap!" Still waiting on the pics!
I have a camera, and am available in the morning.

here I am at 2 hours old, 11lbs and 24 inches long on June 1st 1982.WOW! My daughter weighed in at 5lbs 11 oz.18 inches long. She was 10 days early but full term and perfectly healthy. Somewhere along the line she shot up and has always been the tallest in her class since she started school. Bsmart, you were a cute baby.
Gttbm, poor Papa, I hate it that that happened. Hope mil isn't too hard on him.

When I was about 15 & living at home, I was sitting in the family room (probably watching the Carol Burnett Show), all nice and relaxed and all of a sudden, I hear my mom's car slowly pull in the garage, then BA-BOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!! She drove right through the wall, right into the family room where I was sitting! Talk about almost having a heart attack!!! It was pretty surreal! It was a brick wall, so there was a lot of damage to the car AND the house!! She walked in, walked right past me and never said a word. She was horribly embarrassed! I still laugh about it to this day.

OH my gosh!! JR you're lucky to be alive. Wow, some of these stories are making Papa's seem like nothing. Gttbm, you'll have to share them with him to make him feel better!

My daughter ran into a house on St. Simons Island when she was fifteen and totatled her friends's fathers collector "68 convertible Cutlass. Her story was that she was driving since the friend was "drinking"....duh....nevermind that my daughter didn't have a driver's license.....that was long time ago and not the worst thing that my daughter ever did.
She's now a mature adult with her master's degree teaching in Cobb County, so who knows????? Glad that we all lived through those days!
I can also relate to the older parents' recent car issue....we are dealing with that now ourselves....LIFE!!!!

Johnrudy...."horribly embarrassed"!!!! That cracks me up (not as bad as your house and the car). What's the rest of the story....what was she aiming for when she missed?
My golf cart stories happened on the golf course with PawPaw. First time, was in CO, when PawPaw was playing golf and my mom let me drive the cart. PawPaw was standing in front of us and waves me on...I ran right into him! Poor PawPaw got up, dusted off his pants and finished the round. Second time was at our club in Houston. After tennis, a friend and I met up with PawPaw who let me drive the cart AGAIN! We were parked waiting to go on the back nine and she was playing with the gear. PawPaw once again waves us on and I floor it and we go BACKWARDS into another golf cart and a very large pine tree. Never did know how much that day cost! No wonder the poor man wore that hard hat when teaching me to drive!!!

Hey Sueshore, this is a first. I normally don't have time on the weekends to browse the posts, but I didn't know what I was missing. Some of these today are just too funny. Worked on remodeling jobs around the house and went to dinner with #2 son tonight. Waiting for my better half to get home and I thought I would see who's on the board. Surprise, surprise, it's everybody from the workweek. I will have to sign on more often on the weekends.

What's the rest of the story....what was she aiming for when she missed?Well, I can laugh about it now. And I wasn't in any real danger. It wasn't as if she was flooring it. You just don't expect to have your mother's car plowing thru the wall when you hear her pull in the garage! Ha! I guess I'll probably never forget it. I sorta use that as a "measure of stupidity." If I do something I'm embarrassed about, I always think - - at least I haven't driven thru the wall of my family room!

Johnrudy...."horribly embarrassed"!!!! That cracks me up (not as bad as your house and the car). What's the rest of the story....what was she aiming for when she missed?Speaking of Golf Carts, not too many years ago, a friend of mine was in charge of driving the beverage cart on a couse. Being her first day on the bev cart, she was a little confused about where to be when people were hitting the ball. (The bev cart goes against the flow to reach more people). She knew to stop the gasoline cart when someone was getting ready to hit, but when this one guy hit the ball straight at the cart (accident), she did not think about ducking behind the windscreen. She floored the cart when she pushed off the gas pedal while jumping off the cart. The golf ball missed her, but the cart went straight into the lake. PowerAde and beer were everywhere. I could not help but laugh when I heard the story.

That is a sceery thought. Plus they'll be driving one handed. These are good stories. The only thing I did was drive a little motorcycle into a tree (in the woods) and had to wait forever for someone to come help 'cause it was too heavy for me handle.

I'm hoping age and experience have helped me- I have a looonnnggg history of mishaps involving cars, mopeds, minibikes, tractors- basically anything with wheels and a motor. I would rather push mow our yard than use a tractor. If I used the tractor, we probably wouldn't have a fence, dog, garden.......or tractor after I finished with it!

Shoot, I bet those Funns have the helmets that hold two drinks or they use CamelBack with the sippy straw, so that they can wave with one hand and hold another drink in the other hand. That leaves their left foot to steer. That is a sceery thought. Plus they'll be driving one handed.

Why didn't I think of using the CamelBacks for something other than water? The ultimate in "non-original" container! Wonder how long a margerita will stay cold???

FYI - they make insulated packs for the CamelBacks

Well, we've got some photos now. We also saw the Mercedes. Looks like German engineering is tougher than our house's. On the other hand, I expect the car will cost more to fix.
