Yes, I am a bugger, but you are setting yourself up. We should call you Otter Junior.
BTW, I know way too many peeps in Atlanta, and listen to Atlanta radio stations daily and have yet to hear anyone mention "the ATL." However, I don't listen to the hip-hop stations. Do the gangstas call it the ATL? You are a trend setter. How do you say, "the ATL?" Do you pronounce the letters individually, or, say Atlanta as one name?
Don't forget BR listens to hip hop. They always have abrevs for everything!

I wondered too if BR was taking the cue from RO but when we in Atlanta a few weeks ago, there was a big furor in the Letters to Editors page in the Sunday Atlanta J-C. Seems like the theme song of Atlanta is called "The Atlanta" and it's a bit too hip hoppy for many people's stomachs, evidently. There were a lot of complaints about it.

What profound lyrics. Must have really kept some late nights laboring over those babies! :funn:
These are lyrics! Long live Ray! :clap_1:
Georgia On My Mind
Melodies bring memories
That linger in my heart
Make me think of Georgia
Why did we ever part?
Some sweet day when blossoms fall
And all the world's a song
I'll go back to Georgia
'Cause that's where I belong.
Georgia, Georgia, the whole day through
Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind.
Georgia, Georgia, a song of you
Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines.
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you.
Georgia, Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind.
(Ga. L. 1979, p. 1425).
By the way it was voted #44 on Rolling Stones list of 500 greatest songs.
Usher's cute. I even listen to some of his music. The other guys have their place in the music world. Just not with this "song."
Not attacking BR:nono1: just my opinion.

Sueshore, I almost forgot that HMM and Merman share the same birthday! Tomorrow is the BIG birthday--the big 5-OH. I bought him 5 presents for 5 decades. Now I have to think about what to say on each gift card! And then I have to think about what to wear tomorrow night for dining out. Harumph! If we were in SoWal I wouldn't need to think about that part. Do you think thermal underwear will look good under pearls and furs? :funn:

Hey Suncat! I live in ATL and I agree with YOU! This is the lamest thing I've ever seen or heard. If this is someones idea of promoting ATL, I'm getting in on some of this action! It's a big joke! I'll take MONKEYTOWN any day. ATL, WTF??? What does it mean?????? Not sure how it's supposed to "lure" someone to move here or bring business here.

Did you know that Ludacris has redone Ray Charles' song Georgia? Here's a link to the redone lyrics:
http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Georgia-lyrics-Ludacris/9FFC707A27242115482570C8002F6425
My favorite verse refers to Georgia Tech.
BTW I'm not offended. Everyone I know (except for the "kids") despises hip-hop.

"I love the women out in L.A.
And the shopping stores in New York
The beaches in M.I.A
But it aint nothing like that G.A red clay,
Look on your map we right above Florida,
Next to Bama,
Under the Carolinas and Tennessse you'll see - Georgia, "
At least some of the people who listen to this whacked out song may learn this tid-bit of geography.
