Yes, Monkeytown=Montgomery. It's an old CB radio name for the town. We lived in Spartanburg then. It was called "Sparkle City" in CB talk. BR was "Mamma Cocoa" in those days (Cocoa was my poodle's name).

I was just kidding. I'm in a nutty mood today, as you may have noticed. But hey, if SoWal can have a nickname, so can the Atl! ;-) ;-) ;-) (Thank goodness Sowal has a nickname...otherwise I'd have to say "Panama City Beach", as is on my electric bills. :(panama city =panty bra city
that's spring break slang

For which town? Hotlanta?"It" meaning "Spartanburg." If my memory serves me correctly (which often it doesn't), Atlanta was called "The Big A." Is that right - does anyone remember?

No one in my family acknowledged that but lots of racists would use that reference to Montgomery. I still shudder when I hear it being used! I'm really hoping that has changed now!! (And it may very well be a CB term!!)

I've learned a lot on this board.
