Yes, I have started yet another project on this old pucking house, the Dallas series. I am a serial procrastinator and Mr. K has been after me to get off sowal.com and take care of business. Good thing he left for a week today...been gearing up for some new landscape (DD is my master gardner) and decided to rip up the old red brick patio off the deck. They came today...things were going great...then, the discovery was made...
there is pucking concrete underneath the entire patio and they are now jackhammering the sheet out of it!!
😱 :bang: :( $$$$$$

Life story of anyone with an old house...do one thing and two more jobs reveal themselves. What is your "this old house" (or new house) nightmare?

House 1960. Built like a bomb bunker. 3 Huge pines fell on the kitchen end July 5 year before last. If house was not so sturdy, we'd be toast. But.......all is repaired, new 30 year roof, wall paper, paint, gutters, etc. all updated and better than it was. Thank you Mr. Insurance Man.
In 30 years I'll be in the nursing home (I hope I'm still around) and it'll be somebody else's problem or I won't know the difference anyway.
I do need to work on the landscaping tho. I hate those f'n chinch bugs

I feel you pain, Miss K. Thankfully having our daughter's wedding reception at our home last summer fast-forwarded our renovations. Interior/exterior painting, landscaping, decluttering were done outside and on the first floor. So all of that looks excellent.

We had planned to have three children. Due to my infertility issues, that didn't work out. Our master bedroom suite is on the second floor, so Lauren has three bedrooms on the second floor which are totally cluttered with her stuff. The guest room is on the first floor, designed with Mom in mind because we anticipated her not being able to climb the stairs to the second floor due to our high ceilings. We also have a third floor which could accommodate more people but is full of all of our stuff.

I think I need to hire an estate sale person and help us get rid of a bunch of our stuff.

I hear ya'! This is the last of any work done here (other than Katastrophes) as we will be here until retirement.

That wedding was actually a good thing! It forced you to get everything done! Do you have trouble getting rid of stuff? Does Lauren? If so, you need an honest friend to come stand over y'all!

Keeping a house up is a never-ending saga. Like Miss Kitty, anytime I have repair people over, half the stress is dealing with the dogs. You can't just let them out, because people are coming in and out. Just having terminix over is a pain, because i have to keep herding everyone from room to room, until we have covered the house and yard. The entire house was redone with new dry wall, new flooring, new windows, new ceilings, new insulation and a new metal roof two years ago. My house is about 90 years old, so it needed a facelift. I had to move out for three months for them to do everything. I do love my tin roof, especially when it rains. You got this Miss Kitty. I know you can do it. Now, I have to go kill my yard some more....

All three of us are hoarders. My sister is the exact opposite -- a minimalist with impeccable taste. I've asked her to fly to ATL from Dallas, but she has two teenagers so can't leave them.

Come visit! Just know that there's no room in the closets for hanging your stuff because we are, well, hoarders, plus Lauren and I are disorganized.
