Sometimes you just need ordinary items. You go to walmart and generally get them for less. On the other hand, try to make it a point to get nice stuff some place else when you can afford it. Don't buy a bathroom medicine cabinet from walmart, it will be crap. Buy cat litter, tube socks, cranberry juice, vacuum cleaner filters, batteries, exlax, neosporin and duck tape. Then let the party begin.

:lolabove: Top it off with a bean bag chair, a couple bags of cheetos and a three pack of Nyquil.

People without feet and just ankle stumps still wear them I think.

Or the Scootermen who get tired of trying to find socks to fit a size 15 or 16 foot.

I keep thinking of the ones from the late 70's or early 80's with the bright colored bands around the top. The always fell down and I had to keep pulling them up. Loved the pom-pom ankle socks. Ok. Now I feel old. Where's the NyQuil?

So is Sasquatch part of your families distant genetic tree Scooterbug?! ;-)

Nope, just big ol' Scandahoovians!

Grandma Scooterbug wears a size 11. Luckily Mama Scooterbug's tiny feet entered the gene pool so my size 7s are the envy of my aunt and cousins - who borrow Grandma's great shoes. ;-)

When you've got these huge feet I don't think you even need snowshoes.

 I take this as a jab to those who live in Mobile Homes. At least they have a home. I think it sad that people make fun of people for living in Mobile homes. I see it all the time and it makes me so upset. Geez.

For crying out loud, if you can read something and find an interpretation that offends you, by all means do so. Ditto to swgb who sent me a message that I'm a "snob". Your interpretation was so silly it wasn't worth dignifying, so I responded with "Roll Tide", due to the caricature that a lot of Alabama fans live in trailer homes (ok, not really a caricature). That was deleted by the moderator here. A real friend (we know each other through real life, not through the internet message board) who graduated from The University asked twice why it was deleted and his post was deleted both times. Get over yourselves, people.

My point was that a new Wal-Mart isn't anywhere near as aesthetically unappealing as an abandoned 1980s single wide (or the nearby hideous strip centers, etc), that I see FROM HIGHWAY 98 every morning and evening driving to and from my office. Further I was trying to point out that the kind folks that live in the single-wides who cannot afford to purchase their bedding at Pizitz might find a south Walton WalMart a convenient alternative to driving into Destin.

Miss Critter - and you have no idea how ridiculous I feel as a grown man with a family and a career addressing someone by their internet name - nailed my point. It wasn't that hard. 98 is already much uglier than Wal-Mart. The numerous people in south Walton that don't have a lot of money will probably appreciate it, especially with the economy in the commode. The end.

I hate shopping in Wal-Mart. It's dirty. It's crowded. I have to be close to poor, fat people (that, SWGB, is being a snob). However, I'd like to make the decision whether or not to shop there rather than people with too much time on their hands to stand out and protest the place because it "is evil and sucks the soul out of any area it moves into (sic)". Further, any employee there has the option of walking away and finding another job, so enough about how they are treated like USSR dissidents, but you all can fight about that amongst yourselves.

Now, I'll go back to not posting here and letting all of the people with enough time and inclination to post 12,711 times to do so. I'll be driving up to Defuniak tomorrow morning to cut down a Christmas tree, watching Tebow clinch the Heisman in the afternoon, headed to church Sunday morning, cooking a big dinner and getting in the attic Sunday night, etc. so I probably won't be responding to all of the hate mail coming. Feel free to call me by my Christian name rather than my internet name as well.
Best,
Philip

One more thing - when did "mobile homes" become a proper noun?

Wow!

Shame you dislike shopping at Wal-mart so much - your disdain for the customers, workers, and our community would fit right in with their corporate philosophy.

...let's all sing!!

A HOLIDAY JINGLE

Oh, you'd better watch out,
you'd better not cry,
you're gonna find out,
I'm telling you why,
A new Walmart is coming to town.

Visitors' writing their list,
and checkin' it twice,
tents, and shovels and bags of ice.
A new Walmart is coming to town.

The kids in Seaside and Allys,
will have a jubilee,
there'll be plenty of jobs,
for all those snobs,
with their FSU degree.

Oh, you'd better watch out,
you'd better just pray,
there'll be a McDonalds
coming to 30A,
A new Walmart is coming to town.

Oh PJJ, you assume that we all sit in anonymous caves biatching about the world. Fact is most of us know each other and met either through this board or in real life.

As for your holier than thou list of activities, today I met friends for coffee and a very interesting presentation on coffee. I then came home and cleaned the house and decorated for Christmas. Tomorrow I'm going to clean a little more, go grocery shopping, finish decorating for the holidays, meet up with some friends (who I didn't meet on here), and enjoy myself. Sunday I'll be waiting on the DirecTV installer, going to brunch, watching a real football game (you know where the guys get paid for it), then come home have a wonderful dinner, and go to sleep so I can get up early on Monday for work, charity, and errands.

*cough*sanctimoniousdouchebag*cough*

P.S. My CHRISTIAN name is Matthew, my book didn't end up on the editing room floor.
