what are you craving now? comfort food, drink, candy, snack, or whatever it may be. (maybe its a cuddle or a kiss).

last week it was cornbread - the big fat southern skillet kind. oh, it was so gooooood.

this week its saltine crackers with butter. real butter. I haven't had those in so long I can't remember. seems like it was what we used to eat in restaurants when waiting for our food to arrive.

maybe they are winter time cravings. my cold has not dampened them in the least. if anything I am hungrier.

oh, and coke. craving it all week.

my next craving may be Modica's chicken & dumplings. I hope it is anyway.

Up until 20 minutes ago homemade beef stew. FBB was cooking on all afternoon in his dutch oven. I smelled so delicious and it was! Beef stew, crusty ,chewy multi-grain bread, and a salad with Dijon-vinaigrette dressing. Oh my, it was like heaven! Best part, we have leftovers!

I am craving a thick slab of freshly baked potato bread right out of the oven just dripping with real butter!

I am also craving other things, but I think I will save those for my memoirs... ;-)

Believe it or not, Annie's on 331 in LA (lower AL). The clams are the closest to Howard Johnson's "tendersweets" that I have ever found. Is that place in Opp or Luverne- I can never remember. If I am going by and it is anywhere near a mealtime, it is CLAM CITY!!!

Hmmm... road trip?

We bought a beautiful loaf of homemade bread at the Seaside Farmer's market today, and I am now George Foremanizing some sharp cheddar cheese sammies right now.

oh, we stop at Annie's in Luvurne all the time (over many years). the kiddo likes the fried shrimp or fried crab claws. I usually get the cat fish. but will get clams next time. they have the best ice tea.

hot homemade bread with real butter. you can't get any better than that.

if you just happen to be out of homemade bread, get a loaf of publix Chicago Italian bread - pre-sliced. slather with butter (of course). eat. yummy. we actually serve it as an appetizer around here.

Edited

I got a loaf too and had a slice with pear & calomine preserves for lunch!

The hot butter and cheese sound good too - especially on this freezing day!

I ventured out to the grocery today in the frigid arctic air (I hate winter), because I was craving a bologna and cheese sandwich with Hellman's Mayo on toasted white bread. I had to have it. It was not funn in the cold, but the sammich made up for it!

KISH--you'll make 1000 in no time..just keep posting every day.

Yum. Bread and real Butter. I could live on it alone...forever.

I've been craving some really good pizza. Not that crap you get from Domino's or Pizza Hut. Some real good stuff. I am on a quest. I'm surprised it's not just around the corner here--everything else is.

p.s.--Toots--I do remember having saltines and butter in restaurants before dinner years ago. Good stuff.

We are craving SoWal.

We are craving Pizza Bar and Stinky's.

We are craving my chili that takes about 4927549 minutes of prep time. I think I'll make that after we finish the yummy pot of vegetable beef soup that I made.

Here it is http://www.sowal.com/bb/dining-food/17390-chili.html#post310514 . BeachSiO2 is a big fan of it. In the recipe I reduced by about a half the amount of hot spices that Prudhomme recommends. It was too spicy for most people we know. If you like hot chili, you might wanna ramp that up.
