Almost have the boat ready for the lake! Installed the trolling motor today and charging the battery for it now...I just have to buy a bigger chisel so I can hammer out the rusted in blank that is blocking my trucks trailer hitch! lol To bad tomorrow looks like its going to be windy as all get out. Sunday looks to be a go though! If everything is groovy with the boat using the trolling motor, I am going to sink about a grand into it next week for the main outboard, new seats and trim and a new steering cable!

So you didn't come out and say hi again? Jeez! I promise you that Imygyn isn't that dangerous of a little girl! lol The supervisor from Chelco commented that he has never seen anyone put a boat into that lake in the last 15 years. Definitely a plus for someone who needs to take his time using the boat ramp! lol
Ps. Hmmm...you weren't that little old man on our way back who couldn't understand that we didn't go fishing were you?

Me "None, we just went out to enjoy the day"

DTI, great photos - and you are creating memories with your little girl that she will treasure forever! I learned how to steer a boat sitting in my Daddy's lap, before I learned to walk. I will never forget our summers spent at the lake (ours was in N. Wisconsin... 
He taught how to back up a boat trailer as soon as I started driving, and I still have trouble sometimes! Singinchicken, this is awesome advice, especially #2!
I don't know why that never occurred to me, but what a simple way to manage direction! Usually I have to stop and remind myself to "think opposite."

Lesson #1...Start with the trailer as straight to where you want to go as you can even if it means hauling it to Freeport to line it up!
Lesson #2...Put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. Which ever way you push the wheel from the bottom is the way the trailer will go.
Lesson #3...Make your corrections small and then stop them by adding in the same amount of wheel in the opposite direction.
You can do it!

Happy Times. Her smile reminds me of when our Dad would haul us around for hours on the lake on our little boat. Great memories. A few more open spaces back then and not so many to observe your launching abilities!! Have fun.
