Noble effort Arkie, yet most likely moot.

It's the principle of the issue.

There is a time and place to push the issues associated with drilling to our beloved coastal area, but IMO this isn't the time. Making it a political issue and placing blame while it is still unclear as to what happened and while families are still hoping for signs that their loved ones are still alive is appalling.

Ranks right up there with protesters picketing at a Soldier's funeral to me. While it may be legal, all that does is hurt your cause and credibility.

Really??? That has to be the most morally and intellectually bankrupt statement I've ever heard. How can you compare picketers expressing hatred towards the dead in the presence of their families with somebody pointing out the environmental impact of a tragic event. This is a serious issue that affects all of us. You need to beg, borrow, buy or steal a a clue and a grip, but if your statement is any indication of your typical thought processes, I'm sure it won't do you a bit of good.

Sadly though I think it has "leaked" from the political forum and polluted even the lounge. :(

As stated, IMO, there is a time for the discussion. This issue is still in a search/recovery mode. There are many families in the Panhandle that have family members that work in the industry that are very concerned. I'm as much as an advocate against drilling in the GOM as you or anyone else. But to post pictures of the rig burning with "Happy Earth Day" doesn't help the cause. It just pisses off folks.

Your reactions don't surprise me as I have seen the same many times from you in the past. Your entitled to your thoughts but so am I....

Enjoy your life....

I don't find it to be on par with picketing at a funeral, but definitely thought there were some unnecessarily inappropriate comments given the topic and tone of the thread.

Perhaps you could post a timeline you consider appropriate grieving etiquette so the rest of us don't piss people off.:sarc:

Do a quick search of my posts and threads and I think you will find I am well aware of the issues. Most of the posters in the thread were at the local protest against drilling, attended the symposium on the issue, contacted their representatives, and are very much against oil drilling and for alternate fuels and conservation.

This was not about the issue of oil drilling, it was about having manners and behaving appropriately.

If it wasn't for petroleum, you wouldn't be able to hide behind your computer and exercise the free speech people like John Mccain made for so many sacrifices in captivity while real Americans toil and sweat for the prosperity of a nation indebted to the patriotism and courage of the few who served the needs of the many with such great valor.

Whenever a polarizing politician (or in this case an issue) gets sick or dies, there is always someone who comes out and takes personal shots before funeral plans have been devised. Here is some interesting reading from when Ted Kennedy died. Kudos to Arkiehawg for being an all around good guy.

The "issue" got sick and died??? Please explain that one. In other words don't kick the oil industry when they eff up and confirm our worst fears?? Ridiculous. Nothing personal and there never has been in the posts that led up to Arkiehawg becoming a member of the thought police.

Thought police....another cutesy statement from you.

My initial request was asking you and bob to start a new thread for your political expressions of the industry. The thread was initially about the explosion and potential loss of life and wishes of thoughts/prayers for the families. Then you and Bob decided to make it a stance of attack on the industry and their actions that damage the environment.

I have no issue with your stance and opinion and even stated so in the thread. I was just asking you to please start a new thread, but instead you have since directly attack me with name calling. I just consider the source and so be it.

I do find it interesting that you and Bob have been very vocal about the tragedy to the environment, yet neither of you have expressed any comments of condolence to the men and their families who have suffered dearly.

Interesting, but not surprising....

In respect to the others, I am done with this thread and with your "original" tags....

Enjoy yourself....
