Will the First Fam get in the water when they visit Panama City Beach next weekend?
Free advice to the prez: get yourself and kids in the swimsuits and get in the water.
If there are pictures of the Prez gazing out over the Gulf in a suit and tie -- Nixon style -- people are going to be p.o.'d....
Let's make it a poll: will they or wont' they get in the water?
I think they will.
This thread includes a poll.
Poll voting is temporarily unavailable here. The discussion and replies remain available.

Any photo op would be fine as long as they don't show him "clearing brush in a cowboy hat". Ya know?
Good One! But you know, I bet Mr. Obama has never done a hard day's labor in his life, and as far as the cowboy hat goes, he is a baseball hatter.

No, you're right, the gulf is the gulf and the bay is the bay. Also that would be Panama City, not Panama City Beach.
I thought the water in the picture I saw looked really tannin stained! It was way too brown to be gulf water...

Considering the double red flags yesterday afternoon and that a North Carolina man drowned off PCB later in the day, I'm glad the leader of the free world and his adorable young daughter stuck to the more-protected bay side of the area, for all that a picture on the Gulf side would have made for the better photo.

So they got the caption wrong when they put in the word "beach" - I do that all the time myself when talking about PC or PCB.
This is across from St Andrews then right?

Found maps of the area, you can see where Alligator Point is, just northeast of St. Andrews State Park. It's confusing, though, because the park lists itself as being in Panama City and the Bay Point Mariott, where the president and family are staying, lists itself as being in Panama City Beach.

Well I think it's a good thing that The First Family came to PCB. Our tax money has been used on a lot of other unneeded things in this country. So leave the man alone and let him do his job. Everyone is entitle to a vacation. What about the tax money that the other presidents misused, so let's not point finger's

Especially when the Bay County officials went to such great links to make the visit happen--because they are trying to improve the tourism business, which is THE economic factor in this area..which, if the publicity from his visit works, ultimately is to the benefit of every resident of the Gulf Coast.

Most likely he'll be wearin' a turban like the Kenyan, Arab, Muslim that he is, you betchA!!
The Associated Press photograph portrays Obama wearing a white turban and a wraparound white robe presented to him by elders in Wajir, in northeastern Kenya.
Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., right, is dressed as a Somali Elder by Sheikh Mahmed Hassan, left, during his visit to Wajir, a rural area in northeastern Kenya, near the borders with Somalia and Ethiopia in this file photo from Aug. 27, 2006. The garb was presented to Obama by elders in Wajir. Obama?s estranged late father was Kenyan and Obama visited the country in 2006, attracting thousands of well-wishers.

I don't think count his visit as a vacation- that family barely sat still long enough for a meal, much less relaxed. They came here to do a job- highlight the Gulf Coast- and they did it.
Only Mermy and Merman could pack more in a weekend than the Obamas.

Gosh, that Gulf water looks so pretty. Looks like the dog paddle was the swim of choice, or is that the rescue swim? Is this photo above, which the media has posted everywhere, the only photo of the swim? Only two of the Obama's were in the water, and Sasha doesn't appear to be swimming at all. So if 50% of the Obama's swimming enough to qualify for the poll? Looks much in line with the poll results - about 50/50.
That was one very expensive goofy golf vacation.

I wonder if the Obamas ate Gulf seafood at Captain Anderson's? Back in the day, my Daddy loved that place. Also Black Angus back when beef and baked potatoes were the suave things to eat.
That was also back in the day when Daddy wanted to invest in beachfront acreage in South Walton County, and Mom and I said no because it was out in the boondocks. We thought he was crazy. OOPS!
Really, though, I suppose the Obamas had a meal at a private location to avoid a security nightmare and the costs of such. I understand, but I'd like to see a photo of him eating a shrimp.

Sorry, I have inside info that they ate at Firefly, and my painter's partner's nephew was his waiter, and Barack asked him what was good, and he told him the New York strip steak, so there's a good chance there was no shrimp.

President Barack Obama and his daughter Sasha swim at Alligator Point in Panama City Beach, Florida
What a sweet fun photo!!!
President Obama looks so relaxed and at ease.... why, it's almost as though he were swimming off the waters of his home country of Kenya!

The Prez is the man!

Sorry, it's clearly photo-shopped. He's been in Chicago the whole time. PC got a bum deal. I bet Lynard Skynard did better than Barack.

From all I've heard, the local officials were very happy wtih the presidential visit...and believe the publicity from it will ramp up the tourism economy in the PCB area. apparently, he ate steak and shrimp. at Firefly..and gave the Marriott Bay Point a much needed publicity boost, along with Brusters ice cream and goofy golf.

I hope the swim, the eating of shrimp, the golf game, and the ice cream. and the Mosque comment update before exiting the area, gives PC all that they hoped for from this visit.
