Obviously we don't have them yet, but PPP has a new poll out indicating it'll be Rubio, Meek, and Crist for the final Senate race.
I haven't seen any polling on the house or governor elections though. Anyone seen anything?

If this ends up being correct, I say Meek pulls too many votes from Crist and Rubio wins. Whaddya think?

When Florida calls these things early, they seem to get a little sideways......remember?

I believe (and hope) that Crist is in the right place with the right message at the right time and will win this one.

I think it's way too early to tell for Florida. But if I were a betting man I'd put a little money on that outcome.

I stood in the polling booth and thought "Greene or Meek, Greene or Meek?"...eh, neither is winable--Charlie now has my vote--besides, we must band together and do evertything possible to prevent Marco Rubio from being elected.

So who did you pick AC?

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Seven incumbent U.S. House members- five Democrats and two Republicans - are facing challenges from within their own parties.
Also on Tuesday's primary ballot, former Florida House Speaker and ex-Senate Majority Leader Daniel Webster is one of five Republicans seeking a chance in November to unseat freshman Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson in central Florida.
Rep. Allen Boyd, a conservative Democrat from north Florida, is getting a serious primary challenge from Florida Senate Democratic leader Al Lawson.
Other Democratic incumbents with primary opponents are Reps. Corrine Brown, Kathy Castor, Ron Klein and Suzanne Kosmas.
Reps. Cliff Stearns and Vern Buchanan are the Republican incumbents being challenged.
I wonder if Lawson gave Boyd the boot!

As someone who spends a lot of time working in Washington on federal appropriations and grants, I can say with almost 100% certainty that it will be a cold day in he!! before Walton County gets enough money to build the US 331 bridge without the support of Boyd. He is a Cardinal for the Dems on the Appropriation Committee and Miller is not (nor is he in line to be). Only Cardinals carry the weight to get the level of funding needed for that project and they need support from other members. A freshman representative in Florida District 2 will not be able to help. It's not their fault, it's the way it is..

So what has been Boyd's excuse all these years? Sorry, don't buy that.

Governor: Sink only so far, Scott and McCullom are duking it out.
District 2: Steve Southerland, Boyd and Lawson duking it out.

Nice local stats. Looks like Faye Leddin and Sharon Roberts won the school board seats.
edit: Actually, when the spread is less than 500 votes I suppose that's jumping to conclusions.

thanks for posting.
I find it incredibly sad that only 25% of the eligible voters actually voted...don't know what the "normal" participation is, but to think that so few people actually bother is disturbing. No wonder we have some of the situations we do...not enough people are paying attention.

Boyd hasn't made the "request." I haven't been involved in that so I don't know why. The fact remains that Miller has requested funding in previous years and has only been able to secure $237,500. This coming year will be a big year as there is an opportunity to request larger amounts through the Surface Transportation Reauthorization Bill (previously known as Safetea-Lu). That bill only comes around every 5-6 years and is where big money can come from. It was supposed to be passed this year but was slowed down due to being an election year as it will have a big price tag. From what I can tell Miller has made two requests (one for the bridge and one for 331 widening) but Boyd hasn't. Boyd has requested money for five other transportation projects in his district. It should be reopened for new requests after the election so there will be an opportunity to get the request made.
My point is that Boyd has the opportunity to get larger amounts and more projects due to his standing in Congress. It's up to the locals to convince him it's a worthwhile project. I would like to point out that Boyd has made other requests this year on behalf of Walton County in regards to the beaches and Coastal Dune Lakes.

Are you saying that the local leaders have not gone to all the national leaders: Boyd, Miller, Nelson...and requested funding for the widening of this highway?
Then, what on earth were they all doing on all those trips to Washington?

typical voter turn out for primaries is around 30% for this area, so 25% is close to par for the course.

That's not what I am saying at all. I am saying that the locals (voters) need to contact him, especially those who lean Democrat and will actually support him in the voting booth. Back to my original point that Boyd has to be re-elected for the 331 bridge to survive.

thanks for the clarification.
I think most people around here don't realize they have a responsibility to contact their representatives for something like a road being widened...they think that is the business of the ones they have elected; and since I've lived here there has not been an organized effort to get it done--i.e., no commissioner has gone to the local community and said: "We need you to all call Allen Boyd and get him to ask for the funding."
Wonder what would happen if one of them did that?
I voted for Al Lawson--he wouldn't have to be asked to do something like that...

I am one who calls my representative all the time. I have only had one(1) return a call and that was a state representative (Marti Coley). What you usually get is, "I'll see the Representative gets your message". Yeah, right. If we are to lose things like the 331 bridge if Boyd is not re-elected, maybe it is time we learned to survive without it until a whole new set of legislators with our interests at heart, are in place long enough to do something about it. Otherwise, its politics as usual and we deserve what we get.

Sadly I see your point, although I do not think Boyd will help us due to the majority of Republicans in this area, he will use his clout to help Democrat areas such as Leon and Gadsden.
But it really makes me angry that i see your point. We elect our representatives to wisely use our money to fund needed projects wherever they are and whatever the politics of the citizens. If the politicians in Washington and Tallahassee cannot see that one two-lane bridge as the only evacuation route for thousands of people is inadequate and should be improved before they build a four-lane circle through the forrests around Tallahassee for example, then "calling" them will not do much good.
Anyone who is familiar with Tallahassee knows what I am talking about.

Please note my earlier comments before throwing Boyd too far under the bus. He has and does support projects IN his district. The reason that the locals (Sowal especially) need to contact him is that the bridge is in Miller's District. It connects to Boyd's district but Boyd's district is only Sowal and not the bay or north of the bay. The nexus is that the bridge is critical to his district.
I agree that it will be a challenge to get support for the bridge construction but I still think emails and calls are important.

If we must operate under such rules then wouldn't it make sense to elect a Republican who would probably owe is election to sowal and could present a united front with Republican Miller?
