Yes, I received this email, which I will cut and paste here. I had never heard this word before. I did check out snopes, which can't refute the claims and wikipedia has a rather interesting explanation of the origin of the word.

Clearly, the email could have been constructed differently, but here it is. At least snopes addresses the fact that this behemoth of unconstitutional law has areas that could be amended prior to 2014. Hopefully, to make this fair for ALL. But, is socialism and blatant discrimination ever fair? Ever?

Dhimmitude - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dhimmitude -- What does it mean?
Obama used it in the health care bill.

Now isn't this interesting? It was used in the health care law.

Every day there's another revelation of what Obama and his fellow Democrats are doing to our country.

Dhimmitude -- I had never heard the word until now. Type it into Google and start reading. Pretty interesting. It's on page 107 of the
healthcare bill. I looked this up on Google and yep, it exists. It is a REAL word.

Amish , scientologists, christian scientists and Muslims are exempt ...
ARE EXEMPT ...from the requirements of the health care bill. I think I could become Amish a whole lot easier than muslim.

Word of the Day: Dhimmitude

Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-muslim populations conquered through jihad. Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to Islam.

Obama
Care allows the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia Muslim diktat in the United States. Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be "gambling", "risk-taking", and "usury" and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this.

How convenient. So I, as a Christian, will have crippling IRS liens placed against all of my assets, including real estate, cattle, and even accounts receivables, and will face hard prison time because I refuse to buy insurance or pay the penalty tax. Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan will have no such penalty and will have 100% of his health needs paid for by the de facto government insurance. Non-muslims will be paying a tax to subsidize muslims. Period. This is Dhimmitude.

Dhimmitude serves two purposes: It enriches the muslim masters AND serves to drive conversions to Islam. In this case, the incentive to convert to Islam will be taken up by those in the inner-cities as well as the godless Generation X, Y, and Z types who have no moral anchor. If you don't believe in Christ to begin with, it is no problem whatsoever to sell Him for 30 pieces of silver. "Sure, I'll be a muslim if it means free health insurance and no taxes. Where do I sign, bro?"

I recommend sending this post to your contacts. This is desperately important and people need to know about it -- quickly!

Really? Perpetuating? Really? From you? You might want to contact your representatives because this was made law.

Bob is right: it is a complete 'dummytude' origin and now made law in this country. For the love of Pete!

Selective quoting of snopes.com there, which also says that:

snopes.com: Health Insurance Exemptions

The fact is that the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" (PPACA) legislation passed by Congree and signed into law by President Obama does NOT include language which specifically exempts members of any particular religion from health insurance requirements (nor does it use the word 'dhimmitude'). The bill contains a general 'religious conscience' provision which establishes guidelines under which religous groups which have estabilshed conscientious objections to certain forms of insurance may seek exemption from health insurance requirements

And actually does refute the most outrageous, incinerary, and religous fear-mongering claims of the e-mail.

So the original e-mail going around takes like the first two paragraphs from a generally reliable source and then it spind into lies, hyeteria, and more outright lies.

But then what else is new from those people?

It does look like the email is mostly refuted on snopes. What I don't understand is the blatant attack on Lynnie? I guess that is all politics has boiled down to, lack of civility and tolerance.

As the saying goes, you get kind of tired of turning the other cheek when both of them have been bloodied so many times.

I'm tired of the lies. I'm tired of the hysteria. I'm tired of the right wing whackjobs who are currently trying so hard to destroy the America I love and there just doesn't seem to be a civil way of relating to them anymore because they keep spewing such hatred and lies on a constant basis.

As for the Snopes, that passage is clearly there, and Lynnie's version is one paragraph of truth followed by much fabrication.

Go read for yourselves y'all and let the truth set you free.

I don't read the responses as an attack but more of a frustration of the ignorance displayed by those who pass on this type of nonsense and continue to believe it to be true even when presented evidence that clearly contradicts the claims made in the e-mail. What's more frustrating is there is a link in the original e-mail that refutes the claim but is completely ignored by those who pass it along.

Same here. Substitute 'right wing whackjobs' for 'left wing nutjobs,' or INCLUDE them together, beachmouse, and then you have made a very valid statement. I have barely posted here for a while and observing the attacks sowallers continue to throw at one another is equally as hideous as you state.

I posted in an extremely civil manner and just look at the sowal left wing nutjob(s) who stepped out in a 'civil' manner.

I am tired of this crap as well. Please note: there is no hatred spread by me and I will assume you didn't direct that statement at me.

This was great little experiment to draw out those who throw stones at glass houses.

Why am I not surprised. Many of the posters on this forum have become downright...I can't find a word strong enough, if anyone points out anything that is not supportive of their position or in disagreement with it. If you are so naive as to think there are some things in an over 2000 page bill signed into law, then you deserve everything you will eventually get. Whether this particular function of the law is true or not, it really doesn't matter. There are other parts that will matter and most of us probably will not like them.
I have met Lynnie at one of the soirees. She is a very vibrant, intelligent and caring person. That is more than I can say about some of the others posting here.

If you believe the email, then you are part of it. If you were fooled by something so easily refuted, then people are going to call you out on it. You can either be more offended, redfaced, or laugh at yourself.

If you really meant it as an experiment then that is also known as trolling.

"Many" is quite the exaggeration, especially since there are 16,776 registered SoWal members. There is just a vocal minority that represents political extremes on this board. Just like there is a vocal minority that gets the most attention in life OFF this board.

Before you get all uppity about "many of the posters" on this forum, I wonder if you realize that you and a handful of others represent the far-right vocal minority and there is an equal-size vocal left minority- probably a whopping total of 20-30 people participating in these political discussions, out of 16,776!. I'd be careful Andy- so many extremists on one message board!

Kurt, it is absolutely 100% up to everyone to end ignorance and fear. It is even up to the left wing posters here.

I am hardly a troll and I think you know that. This 'dhimmitude' could have been discussed and perhaps it still will be discussed. One never knows. Relatively civil is well, relative, I suspect.

Snopes makes its claim as the email is MIXED - meaning, there is some truth and some stretch of the truth. I also posted wikipedia. But, to further the points that perhaps the bill wasn't read (which has been debated here frequently) and even snopes states that there is plenty of time for amending.

Yes, I am laughing.....and, it isn't funny.

Thanks for the correction regarding "many". That said, lets not play the syntax and grammatical correctness game. I fully realize I am on the right but certainly disagree that I am an extremist but if you have that perception, so be it. I am really a pretty nice guy, according to the few friends I have.😀
As I have said many times I do not post here for you or your friends, Jenny. I post for those guests and lurkers who read this forum so that they receive my point of view. I don't expect to change yours or "many" others here on this forum. Regardless of whether you agree with us or not, Conservatives, Tea Party Patriots and even Republicans are not stupid as the "extreme" on your side would like all to believe. Most of us have manage to live a lawful, productive and self supporting life, as have you.

Not at all. But, I find it interesting that some are seeing this from a very one-sided perspective. Andy's comment that there is plenty in the law that will and does matter more demonstrates that he got it. Others didn't get it, or chose not to. Like I said, this could have been discussed.....whether the email circulation is 100% true or not.

Chill out Andy. I didn't call you stupid or say you weren't nice. Once again, you think anyone who disagrees with you is attacking you. I merely pointed out that your views are very conservative, which puts you on the extreme right in this group, and that the extreme right AND left on SoWal. com are a minority- the majority of SoWallers don't participate in the political discussions. There are plenty of Republicans and Democrats that lean more towards moderate, and they are the silent majority.

I think it all boils down to "people" over "party" for me. Take Andy for example. My political views are a polar opposite from his. However from reading his posts this last year, I have gotten a strong sense of what a decent and good person he is. Because of this, I am not as quick to discount his political belief system and I am more apt to at least consider some of his points. I am also very fond of Lynnie and I know how sweet she is and it bothers me when I see pettiness directed towards her. I truly think politics in general has become a negative force in our country.I hate to see it dividing good people here in our paradise. Okay, enough babbling for me today.

Yes, it does matter because the truth matters. If you have any facts that support or refute a claim made by a poster please present them. Stating that there are parts most of us will not like makes no more sense than me stating there are parts most of us will like. The general idea of every citizen being able receive basic healthcare is appealing to me but I realize the bill is not perfect and most likely never will be but as snopes points out there will be plenty of challenges to the bill before the mandate provision begins in 2014. Forwarding an e-mail with a false and inflammatory message doesn't add anything useful to the discussion.

I am surprised at the vitriol directed at Lynnie. She's never been outright rude or flaming to anyone on this Board. The Board reacted the same way during the Presidential Primaries and once again right before the election of Obama. I'll be happy when this all over.

I got a similar email from a dear friend this weekend. Because it was forwarded to this person by a reputable source, I think it was forwarded without full regard to it's contents. It even had a link to snopes which basically said, yes, this has been posed by Senator, but no one supports her and doesn't have a chance in hell of every being passed. I was really surprised because this person is as smart as whip, but it just demonstrated to me that anyone could get caught with their pants down on these issues-- or just the frustration people are feeling with the state of affairs in this Country, that they are venting with misinformation because they don't have time tio fully vet the issue.

I had no idea what Dhimmitude was, now I do, and even have a better understanding of tude. :sarc: so, thanks, I learned something. I did know that if a Muslim collected any monies from insurance, that they were only allowed to take the portion of it that they needed; ie: repairs needed after a car accident, but, I guess you won't read about that anywhere. So, while many people are perpetrating fraud against insurance companies, a Muslim's religion would prohibit them from even thinking about it.

It is not my intention or job to educate you or anyone else regarding the healthcare bill. It is there, all 2000+ pages of it for all to read. I have read pieces of it. I don't like the idea of it and that's my perogative just as yours is to adore it. Poppy, I am sure you have enough common sense to divide generalization in any statement from pure unadulterated fact. You perceive a "false and inflammatory message" and that is your right. It is also Lynnie's right to perceive the message in a different light. Once again, it appears to me that because one disagrees and posts something one considers to be not useful, one is castigated by those on the left. It would appear that "truth" is often in the eye of the beholder.

I actually worked on the Hill in the 90s for a Republican congressman who would be shocked to see what happened to his party. (Sadly he died in the 90s of the same kind of brain cancer that killed Teddy Kennedy) Still know some people who work in that same office who stayed on with his successor, (current holder of the seat has decided he's tired of the Hill, didn't run for re-election) and who, to a person, are not even going to apply for positions with the new Member if a Republican wins because they loathe the candidate (a Tea Party dandy) and what he stands for.

And these are people who have worked for that solidly Republican office for almost 20 years in some cases, which says something pretty amazing about the office and their loyalty to the old guard if you know how the Hill works.
