Meek To Drop Out?

Seems like President Bill Clinton (see link at bottom) and others are urging Kendrick Meek (D) to drop out of the Fla. Senate race, even at this late date.

Not sure if this will work, but Meeks standing in the polls has gone from 22% down to 15% in the last three days.

Having voted a straight Demorcratic Party ticket since George McGovern in '72, I persoanlly urge all fellow Florioda Democrats to move their vote into the Charlie Crist (I) column for Florida Senator. ( Kurt, if this personal type of political broadcast is not allowed I will delete this post, but I feel strongly about this).

Marco Rubio must be stopped at any cost!

(PS: I have nothing againt Kendrick Meek or most of his policies, but believe Crist will actually be the best with a good, bi-patisan approach).

Run Marco Rubio run. You are so far ahead of Christ that you do not even need to look back. Game on.

I agree with you completely. Meek was probably a very decent guy, and I have always been fairly OK with Charlie Crist. Marco Rubio is about as bad as you can get. He is a puppet of the National Republican Party, the ones that brought you the Iraq War, the trillion dollar deficit, and the financial collapse of 2007. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't he endorsed by Dick Cheney?

I'm sure Alex Sink really appreciates the efforts to keep African American voters at home. Sheesh. Clinton, can't you be like GWBush and STFU?

Really. Why should Meek drop out? Isn't Charlie "I wanna win at any cost" Crist the guy who screwed this up for Meek? He should be the one to drop out. Meek has run a stellar, very respectable campaign throughout the election. Crist is the idiot who, after losing the primary, decided he had to be in this thing one way or another.

I can't believe anyone in their right mind would vote for that man after what we've all seen over the last six months.

Rush Limbaugh used to say that everything the Clintons did had some political motivation. I tend to agree with him, and I wonder what the real story is here.

Meek just held a press conference proclaiming he's in it to win it.

That's a very well reasoned opinion if you're an "anybody but Rubio" voter as as I am. It would only make sense to vote for the strongest non-Rubian. That would be Christ.

What will be interesting after November 2nd will be the results. They won't matter to the Rubio supporters who will be masturbating with tea bags over the win.

They will matter to the Democrats and Independents who bought into a very well crafted whisper campaign that Meek didn't have a chance. Guaranteed when you look at the returns that if Democrats has voted with their party, in this race, they would have clinched it.

I'm not sure what you are saying? Do you really think Meek still has a chance, if all the Dems vote? What if Crist chose to drop out? I sure wish they meet and realize that Rubio would be the worst thing to happen to Florida. If it comes out Rubio and Rick Scott, I might join Bobby in Calif. and start a pot farm.

Clinton's name has come up AGAIN for a candidate's withdrawal to advance the Obama led Democrat agenda for socialism. What a shock. Only 5 days till we get this Tea Party started.

Nothing new here, just another "backroom" deal, sort of like the "transparent" backroom deal with the healthcare bill the Dems promised.
Rubio wins,Crist and Meek should go ahead and wave the white flag and go on a vacation.

Sadly, it isn't over on Tuesday night. There's apparently some sort of legal clause about how the organizations that fund those interest group ads have to spend down money on public service programming or something like that and we're supposedly going to get a whole slew of 'all your congressman and tell them that..." ugly ads from then until the new year.

I can live with that. I call my Congressman, Senator, everyone else's Congressman and Senator whenever I think they say something stupid. That is a lot of the time! I am not naive enough to think it really does any good but the number of calls may have an effect. The main thing is it makes me feel better and on many occasions irks the daylights out of the staffer or intern answering the phone.

Question - can politicians sue each other for slander/libel?

Both sides are running ads that contain outright lies and I would really like to see some accountability.

Or is it too hard to prove because they are hiding behind PAC's etc. ?

I may be wrong, but I think you hit it directly in your last sentence. The PACs seem to be the ones running most of the negative ads leaving the "I am a good and wonderful candidate" to those actually running. Alan Grayson's ad against his opponent was one of the most despicable negative ads I've ever seen. As a consequence, I have paid no attention to ANY negative ad against any candidate. It is my fervent hope the majority of voters are smart enough to do the same but I seriously doubt it. Regardless of whether you like them or not, they appear to be effective.

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist would caucus with Senate Democrats if he wins Florida?s three-way U.S. Senate contest on Tuesday, a close advisor told Washington Wire Friday.

?Crist is going to caucus with the Democrats,? Mr. Morgan said. ?I don?t think there?s any ifs, ands or buts about it. It would be, in a very tight year, almost like a Democratic pickup in a solid Republican state.?

Unbelievable. Crist's transformation is complete. He's switching parties in order to win. What a hoser.

The Democrats seem to really like Charlie now, but I guess they are failing to realize that if he ever even suspects that caucusing with the Republicans will further his political career, that is where he will then go. Pandering is the one thing that Crist excels in.

I guess a lack of principal is something the democrats who support him are comfortable with? :idontno:
