Election Results 2010 - The New York Times

The NYT has what appears to be a useful resource, mapped out real-time results for each congressional and governors race. It should start filling in around seven or eight tonight.

That is definitely a relief! And thankfully I don't watch cable, where I suspect you will be treated to O'Donnell's musings in the future, in one way or another. :roll:

I am finding the Alaska write in of Murskowski to be very interesting to follow.

.

It's pretty delightful so far. (Though I am hoping mispellings like "Murskowski" will count for the incumbent. :lol: I am looking forward to/hoping for a GOP refudiation :lol: of Palin, finally. It appears that if she had not meddled so much putting her "brand" on the primaries, the GOP could have had the Senate too.

I say, let the attack machine on him begin now, on all fronts--this means war! His office's in DC and Florida will know me by name !

You are part the problem not the solution. :(

The people spoke,I hope some here and in Washington(Obama) will listen. The democrats had their chance and blew it.You cannot force things upon people they do not wany and expect a rosey outcome.....give the "redneck, teabaggers"(as they are referred to by the tiny, fringe minority here) and republicans a chance before you cast judgement,if they fail, vote them out.....It is still America so far.

So, Scott supporters, what made him the better choice and what improvements can we expect?

Governors act as a back stop to the legislature. My hope would be that he puts that veto pen to work like Jeb used to. We need someone like that in the governors office. (The potential down side: another Terry Schiavo.)

Also, this governor won't be beholden to the unions like that last one. ;-)

I agree the people spoke, I just think they listened to the wrong ads!:eek:

IMO Sink was by far the better person and again, IMO, it is a sad day for Florida that she lost simply because people are unhappy with the Democrats. I prefer to vote for the person I think has the best interests of the people at heart.

Joe Manchin is a prime candidate for sound governing. We shall se if he keeps his word.

I am happy things panned out the way they did, because to me that mean that our economy is on an upswing. I truly believe that McCain was set up to lose because no matter who took office, spending had to happen to avert a Depression.

It will also be interesting to see if the Congressmen and woman that were elected by the Tea Party members can really accomplish anything and won't become beholden to any special interest groups. As an example, some of them are doctors, like Rand Paul and Nan Hayworth, and they are all obviously against Health Care Reform.

From Nan's web site:
I will work to ensure the passage of these measures:

  • establish an expert medical-courts system making findings on an objective, not adversarial, basis; providing rational settlements determined by experts and based on true economic loss; and ensuring accountability for negligent providers;
  • allow a Federal "safe harbor" protecting providers from liability if they followed accepted clinical practice guidelines;
  • pilot "disclosure-and-offer" programs by liability insurers, for selected cases, offering prompt compensation to patients with adverse outcomes.
Not only that, she talks about how Medicare is so wasteful, but then contradicts herself by stating we should use the efficiency programs Medicare and Medicaid have instituted to reduce waste and fraud. :blink:

So, it will be very interesting to see if any of these new ideas could bring some compromise to both Houses, but I think many Teaparty members will be sorely disappointed in what their movement will generate. I hope I am wrong, but I live in reality and not holding my breath.

We should all just be happy that the Dems still control the Senate, and that the extreme (insert descriptor) wing of the Republican party has been rejected. No unpleasant surprises in this election except for maybe Rick Scott. We all knew that Rubio would win long ago.

I have no issue with republicans winning when the candidates are solid (and when they are actually republicans). I just have a hard time accepting wins by candidates like Scott, Angle and O'Donnell (insert certain dems and independents here as well). At least the people got 2 out of 3 correct...

Well you had better hope that they are willing to work together, because they have VETO overide capabilities. Both Rep Coley and Rep Patronis have expressed concerns about Gov Scotts bid for more tax cuts, this may be more fun than last year when the Republican Controlled State House agreed to raise fees.

I agree. That was my point. I had more faith in the people of Florida being willing to put aside partisan affiliation and vote for the better candidate. I am disappointed that I was wrong. I really think there are few people (maybe his Mom) who if they are honest, think that Scott is the right person to be Governor of our state. We will see.

I also looked at some of the Bills that Florida Gov. Bush vetoed, sorry I did not see many that had to do with money, except Library Appropriations.

Obama's speech today gave me hope. (Although some of the messages here do not.) He didn't say he wanted me to sit in the back of the bus, didn't describe me as extreme or say I was his enemy. He spoke of consensus and cooperation in dealing with our troubles. I'm more optimistic now than I've been in four years.

"We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back."

- Obama just a few weeks ago.

But that's ok! I understand you're a little bitter right now. I'm not! :D:wave:

Full quote: "Finally we got this car up on level ground. And, yes, it's a little beat up. It needs to go to the body shop. It's got some dents; it needs a tune-up. But it's... pointing in the right direction. And now we've got the Republicans tapping us on the shoulder, saying, we want the keys back.

You can't have the keys back. You don't know how to drive. You can ride with us if you want, but you got to sit in the backseat. We're going to put middle-class America in the front seat. We're looking out for them."

Nothing about back of the bus....

And now the quote from Steele:

"Nancy Pelosi will be in the back of the bus."

Didn't hear the Repubs nor Faux news making an issue when their African American leadership actually stated back of the bus.....Did YOU?.....but they sure threw a fit when the President talked about the Repubs sitting in the back of a car (or as they "understood" bus)

Faux News sure had fun with that spin dry setting....:lol:
