i will get to watch the derby this year, usually we are either on the way home from sowal and i have to listen to it, or i am sleeping and miss it all together. who is everyone rooting for ? i always root for bob baffert's horses, and if there is a gray horse, or solid black i like them too ! i am very technical in my methods aren't i?

I am much too delicate to carry anything heavier than a cocktail glass. 😀
I love this one!:lolabove: Let's get it on a T-shirt! It can be the mantra for all the SoWal gulls! :clap_1:

Nothing Tastier than a proper Makers Mark Mint Julep, served in a silver julep cup...If you are serving Makers Mark, you can keep the ice, mint and simple syrup for yourself. ;-)

My daughter called me with the perfect horse...Seaside Retreat. We have to bet him just on the name alone!! She said he's a long shot, but hey, bigger winnings!
That's my way of doing it, based on my first ever win when I was 14 years old. I bet on a horse called--no joke--Shyboob--and she turned out to be a darling! I liked the named because I empathized with the situation (didn't have much up front when I was 14  .)

SJ, sounds like you're a bourbon man. Bill Samuels was in Destin last month hosting an Ambassadors' Party at Blue Point. He was all pimped out in a purple suit and giving away Maker's Mark swag. I convinced my boss to do my quarterly review there; needless to say that after a few Makers', I got plenty of high Marks on the review!

I am not a big fan of rum or gin. There was a time when I drank mucho good liqour, but now, I would be as happy with water with lemon. I do appreciate fine liqours, beer and wine, but I would be just as fine with smelling them all night instead of drinking them. I know that is not something that most Dawgs would ever say, but I am not like most people. :idontno:

Today is the Kentucky Oaks- the Lillies for the Fillies. No school today in Louisville- too many teachers always called in sick to go to the track, so years ago the school system gave up and now it is an "in-service" day. We do have class on President's Day and Good Friday.
Celebrity flash- the Queer Eye guys are here- Carson and the little dancing guy. Wonder if they brought Derby hats? They will probably look better than 90% of the women at the track.
