okay my little fitness wannabees... here it is. and thanks for deciding on this thread name. After sharing our goals and strategies for fitness and weight reduction, we'll all be sowell on sowal!!!

Cork and I are doing at least one yoga/pilates class per week now. plus we bicycled the other day (almost killed me). and plan to do exercise on our own at home as well.

as far as diet and weight reduction, we haven't really gotten very far. I'm reading two current resources for motivation and just general info: Body for Life for Women (A Woman's plan for Physical and Mental Transformation) - Pamela Peeke, MD, and The Reality Diet (fight fat with fiber) - Schnur, MD. They are both really straightforward, no nonsense approaches to weight loss - and include a lot of info on weekly menus, exercise, etc.

I know that I will need a menu plan to follow in the first 3 months of my "transformation". If I have a reasonable menu to follow, then I don't mind shopping and cooking. Having it all planned out makes it easier for me, and it makes me eat things that I would otherwise avoid or not think about eating (it expands the culinary experience)...

What are your goals? I need to finish up some of my reading and then I plan to put my goals on paper, along with my plan to achieve them. I have also already started a food and exercise journal.

I'll be sharing some of this with you. I hope we can all share successes, questions, recipes, exercise tips, etc... hope to see you on here every day looking for motivation and at the same time giving support to all of us.. :D

:floor: :floor: Well, the food sounds great, however, the hairy backs do not! And I hear ya about where they'll be 50 lbs from now---can't wait til my "sword" looks like a tiny cross again! :floor: :floor:

Sounds like that will be sooner rather than later with your determination!:clap_1:

Goals for today:

Drink lots of water and eat lots of watermelon to purge that nasty chicken tender from yesterday.

Step up the veggie consumption

Inspired by seagrovelover, increase walking time/distance.

Ignore bat turds.

DD: Just put this on your desk, and we will come and scoop up the bat turds and bury them in someone's vegetable garden. I hear it makes great fertilizer. :funn:

DD: I did a great job on my eating and water intake yesterday (was driving half the day). but that bottle of wine may have been a tad too much. Allifunn made me do it.

Today: more and more water. think small portions. try not to party with Allifunn...

My thoughts exactly. But I still ate my healthy lunch. Jerk pork chop, brown rice, black beans and tropical fruit salad. I cannot get enough water today. Have a scratchy throat and all the water in the world isn't helping (well not the sore throat anyway.)

Leftovers from last night. That's another one of my tips, by the way. Cook enough for dinner so you can bring the leftovers to work for lunch the next day. Works great for me, but I don't mind leftovers.

I don't mind leftovers either..I just haven't cooked much this week. When I went to the store, I bought mostly lunch, snacky type stuff.

Daily Report:

Breakfast: Grape Nuts trail mix with low fat milk
Lunch: Three bites of beans from a bean burrito
Grilled chicken salad with low fat ranch
Dinner: Thin sliced "no fat" ham on white  bread. three bites personal pizza stolen from granddaughter.

ok.....it was kind of a crazy day. Sooooooo busy at work. Granddaughters, son and step-daughters over tonight. Haven't walked yet, probably won't. I think I'm a real "routine" sorta person.
Didn't do to good on the water either, but I'll drink a big ole glass before bed and then get up in the middle of the night!! :bang:
Tomorrow's another day......I'll do better tomorrow.

DD, sounds like you did just fine to me. :clap_1: I was looking for the bat signal today. :funn:, but guess you were too busy. Don't know how you do it. I called my aunt today to se if she was going to check in on my grandmother who is in a nursing home. It is was horibly hot and humid today over 100 degrees. She has severe Alzheimers, but she is still a sweetie. The aides love her. She's 94.

I know....I forgot all about the bat signal....I was super busy and looks like tomorrow will be the same!! Grandkids still here, I'm tired!
I bet your grandmother is precious!! I love them all--well, almost all of them! I told y'all about Elsie--she's my favorite--meaner than a snake. Actually, I have many favorites. They all are very special.

you are doing great. grandkids and all. we went to the beach tonight for sunset and stayed til 10pm. It was AWESOME. a lovely night at Grayton Beach, for sure. Frannyhole was with us. and of course Allifunn, and Uncle Timmy and others from around here.

Anyway, for a simple dinner at the beach we had steamed shrimp from Goatfeathers (no spice). And it was superb. That is all we had for dinner. Well, plus lots of wine.

Ceaser salad for lunch at Seacrest Cafe - good stuff.

lots of water.

no exercise though - this is something I have to incorporate daily, and I haven't found a way to do this yet.

Allifunn is snoozing, and I wish she would get up and party a few more minutes, but she always craps out on me, which by the way makes her a huge BAT TURD...

What a great day & night!!
I think we just need to get into a routine with the exercise and it's really hard when it's summer, and there's partying to be done!
You're doing great too!! Good for you with the water, I've had about a half gallon since i posted last.
Hmmmmmm.....Looks like Miss Allifunn may be the one with the frozen bra!!
