okay my little fitness wannabees... here it is. and thanks for deciding on this thread name. After sharing our goals and strategies for fitness and weight reduction, we'll all be sowell on sowal!!!

Cork and I are doing at least one yoga/pilates class per week now. plus we bicycled the other day (almost killed me). and plan to do exercise on our own at home as well.

as far as diet and weight reduction, we haven't really gotten very far. I'm reading two current resources for motivation and just general info: Body for Life for Women (A Woman's plan for Physical and Mental Transformation) - Pamela Peeke, MD, and The Reality Diet (fight fat with fiber) - Schnur, MD. They are both really straightforward, no nonsense approaches to weight loss - and include a lot of info on weekly menus, exercise, etc.

I know that I will need a menu plan to follow in the first 3 months of my "transformation". If I have a reasonable menu to follow, then I don't mind shopping and cooking. Having it all planned out makes it easier for me, and it makes me eat things that I would otherwise avoid or not think about eating (it expands the culinary experience)...

What are your goals? I need to finish up some of my reading and then I plan to put my goals on paper, along with my plan to achieve them. I have also already started a food and exercise journal.

I'll be sharing some of this with you. I hope we can all share successes, questions, recipes, exercise tips, etc... hope to see you on here every day looking for motivation and at the same time giving support to all of us.. :D

Thanks, linda. The answer to your question would be...uh, no.

Sorry hon - waking up at 3AM after taking cold medicine was kind of like PUI. I was in a rare mood. For the record I bought a new suit for my trip to Sowal, but I still haven't worn it (a black Speedo tank with mesh insets at the waist and a little purple trim. Don't have a matching sarong for it - LOL!)

I hate to admit, but I haven't bought a new suit in several years. I don't wear them enough to wear them out. Ahhhh...I remember the days though, when I had about 10 different ones every year. I could see my toes then.

ok...I'm just posting to myself here, but here goes...

Daily Report:

Breakfast: Vanilla Yogurt with bran cereal.
Lunch: Shaved Roast Beef Sandwich on 7 grain bread/dijonnaise.
Grapefruit sections
Snack: Nectarine
Dinner: The last of the meatballs.
Water: Two bottles
Big Glass of OJ

Walked Maggie. Moon still beautifull.

Off to bed now since NO ONE"S HERE!! Unless you count the IO thread--:idontno:

I'm reading your post while eating my very late dinner (kind of a mock lasagna with whole grain macaroni, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, cottage cheese and lowfat mozzarella.)

Hope the cough syrup does the job tonight and lets me get some rest - it's been a long day and I am exhausted!

I hope you get some rest too!! It's such a drag being sick!
Your mock lasagna sounds good. The meatballs were pretty good too. That's all of those for a while. I'm fending for myself tomorrow night since mr. dd will be playing "night golf".

Well I've been forcing myself to exercise and try to get my lungs back in shape - rode the exercycle for 30 mins. while my casserole baked (I don't know that I would serve it to guests, but it worked for me - and plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow.) I'm headed up to have dessert with the kids (strawberries and whipped cream!)

Night golf, huh? Does he have balls that glow in the dark? OMG - I can't believe I just typed that - LOL! :rolling:

You go girl! Food can't look any worse than my my healthy mock lasagna (which actually tastes pretty good - just looks like hell.)

I learned how to use a very fancy machine at the YMCA tonight (which looks kind of like a torture device to me - right down to the leather strap you put around your ankle.) I'm not so sure about using it on a regular basis, though.

Cork: Yippee for you!! Good girl!! Maybe we can get in a ride while I'm there!!

Linda: Sounds like you're feeling better...I'm glad.

My day:

Breakfast: Business breakfast, fruit, top of a mini banana nut muffin.
Lunch: Asian grilled chicken salad from McDonalds.:puke: Actually the salad wasn't bad, had the low fat sesame ginger dressing which was very spicy. Just hate McDonalds!
Dinner: Turkey sandwich on wheat with no fat vinagrette. Nectarine. No fat chips.
Water: Probably about 1 1/2 qts.

Walk: Tried to walk Maggie, but some male boxer on the loose came running up, and just about tripped me and just generally pissed Maggie off and so I went to the house where he came from and they said he'd been hanging around for a couple of days. Had tried to call the owner on the tags, but message said she was out of town. :idontno: Anyhoo, Maggie and I didn't (couldn't ) get very far because this dog was just annoying. Felt bad for it, but :bang:
Now, how's that for an excuse not to exercise?

That's been my plan for a long time....just so many logistics to work out! But, I figure I can use the "no money for gas" thing to get started....:floor:
