okay my little fitness wannabees... here it is. and thanks for deciding on this thread name. After sharing our goals and strategies for fitness and weight reduction, we'll all be sowell on sowal!!!

Cork and I are doing at least one yoga/pilates class per week now. plus we bicycled the other day (almost killed me). and plan to do exercise on our own at home as well.

as far as diet and weight reduction, we haven't really gotten very far. I'm reading two current resources for motivation and just general info: Body for Life for Women (A Woman's plan for Physical and Mental Transformation) - Pamela Peeke, MD, and The Reality Diet (fight fat with fiber) - Schnur, MD. They are both really straightforward, no nonsense approaches to weight loss - and include a lot of info on weekly menus, exercise, etc.

I know that I will need a menu plan to follow in the first 3 months of my "transformation". If I have a reasonable menu to follow, then I don't mind shopping and cooking. Having it all planned out makes it easier for me, and it makes me eat things that I would otherwise avoid or not think about eating (it expands the culinary experience)...

What are your goals? I need to finish up some of my reading and then I plan to put my goals on paper, along with my plan to achieve them. I have also already started a food and exercise journal.

I'll be sharing some of this with you. I hope we can all share successes, questions, recipes, exercise tips, etc... hope to see you on here every day looking for motivation and at the same time giving support to all of us.. :D

But then again there's always the argument that if you can't afford gas, how ya gonna get a place on 30A? Uh Oh. Looks like cork's Flophouse for you :floor:

This kinda reminds me of the time I bought a new car and I asked how many miles per gallon. . . the salesman said "if you have to ask you can't afford it. Pissed me off BIG time.

It's really easy. Just eat the stuff. Basically no prep. Kinda like freeze-dried K-rations. Except for the chocolate

Oh, Toots, where are you?

Today, I had no goals other than surviving. Stayed up too late, drank too much Corona. Had to help daughter move today, so had 1/2 egg bagel from McDonalds (hate that place). Had one of those little mini microwave popcorns and three pieces of pizza. No walk yet, but may get some energy sometime tonight. Or, I may just go to bed. :idontno:

Tomorrow starts the big push before vaca. I know I will be bad that week, so gotta be really good this week. :bang:

:lolabove: Here!!! (roll call)

Monday morning and ready to eat well today - all day. my goals this week:

drink water
load up on veggies and fruit
NO wine or alcoholic beverages
yoga/pilates twice this week
ride my NEW bike!!!

and also, I would like to formalize my eating plan a little - try to plan ahead on menus and shopping. this is going to take some time but is important for me to have a good plan and stick with it.

DD - yesterday was a complete waste of health!!! cheeseburger and fries, coke, sofa, fatigue... yuck!!! at least you were busy helping your daughter move - you're good...

IBD I think weight watchers is a great program, I know many gals that have lost a good ammount of weight on that!!!! I have also tried it and lost eleven pounds very quickly then summer came and I quit  but I'm back on track as of two weeks ago and I already feel better!!! I was walking/jogging the track at the high school everynight, then I pulled something in my knee last Monday and doc said to take a week off (maybe more) to let it heal :( I am really bummed out....but I want it to heal quickly so I can get back to three miles a night. I hate set-backs!!!!!!

good going IBD. is the online WW easy to follow, etc? I'll have to take a look at it. I did WW years ago and found it easy to do, but that was with the weekly meeting/weigh in. I don't think we have a WW nearby.

No there isn't :bang:! I agree those weekly meetings and weigh-ins really do give you a boost. I'm going to be here for a month or longer in October. Wish there was a closer meeting than PC!

I personally like the online b/c i am not driving to pc for it. you get an email reminding you to weigh in, you get praise or an uplifting message depending on if you lossed or gained. There is a points tracker that you can plug your points into, boy does that make it easy. there is also a message board and lots of recipes. One cool thing is that you can create your own recipe or type in one of your favorite and it will total up the points for you.....

ok, i got somewhat back on track today.

drank water
had a bagel with a tiny smidge of low fat cream cheese
had some sugar free, low fat brownie bites..
salad for lunch with turkey and ham, very little dressing on the side.
had a turkey sandwich for dinner from boston market..it had dipping "au jus"--but I only dipped twice cause it was so good, it had to be bad. chopped side salad, low fat honey mustard.

chased the dog down the block after mr. dd let her out, and refused to go get her. this was just after he opened the electric bill and was having a coronary.
lovely evening. but, better than eating pizza again!
oh yeah, weighed....10 lbs. and nothing gained after the pizza slip last night. hope it doesn't show up tomorrow!
