okay my little fitness wannabees... here it is. and thanks for deciding on this thread name. After sharing our goals and strategies for fitness and weight reduction, we'll all be sowell on sowal!!!

Cork and I are doing at least one yoga/pilates class per week now. plus we bicycled the other day (almost killed me). and plan to do exercise on our own at home as well.

as far as diet and weight reduction, we haven't really gotten very far. I'm reading two current resources for motivation and just general info: Body for Life for Women (A Woman's plan for Physical and Mental Transformation) - Pamela Peeke, MD, and The Reality Diet (fight fat with fiber) - Schnur, MD. They are both really straightforward, no nonsense approaches to weight loss - and include a lot of info on weekly menus, exercise, etc.

I know that I will need a menu plan to follow in the first 3 months of my "transformation". If I have a reasonable menu to follow, then I don't mind shopping and cooking. Having it all planned out makes it easier for me, and it makes me eat things that I would otherwise avoid or not think about eating (it expands the culinary experience)...

What are your goals? I need to finish up some of my reading and then I plan to put my goals on paper, along with my plan to achieve them. I have also already started a food and exercise journal.

I'll be sharing some of this with you. I hope we can all share successes, questions, recipes, exercise tips, etc... hope to see you on here every day looking for motivation and at the same time giving support to all of us.. :D

Wow DD. How long did it take to lose 11 lbs. Congrats. I'm down about 3 since starting on SoWell on SoWal about a week ago (of course, some of that was vacation weight which tends to go away pretty quickly with a little effort). Going for about 7 more by the end of October (more effort needed for that), and then keep going about 10 more after that (significant long-term life style changes needed for that).

My biggest changes since starting on SoWell on SoWal are (1) no wine with dinner and no alcohol, though I'd certainly enjoy a glass or two with company; (2) healthy, light breakfast (e.g., egg on dry toast; my muffins from Oprah's old cook Rosie that are tasty and healthy; (3) not having seconds at dinner and eating more vegetables at dinner. I'm also calorie counting somewhat as well - 300 calories before lunch, 300 - 500 lunch to dinner; and 400 - 600 dinner and later.

What did you do, DD?

Well, so far, I've just been trying to keep the fat grams under 30 per day. Lots of fruit and some veggies. I'm finding that as I have gotten older, I just really don't care for veggies that much and truthfully, I'm pretty sick of salad!! And exercising some...emphasis on SOME. Just mainly walking the dog. As Toots and others have said, I can tell more in the way my clothes fit than anything. Joined WW online, but haven't had an opportunity to really read through it all--there's A LOT of info there!
I'll say one thing though....that gorgonzola sauce sounds pretty dang good right now!!
I'm in a funk today, so I could eat just about anything and not really care. I've need an attitude adjustment!!

I did not weigh today. I am NOT going to weigh today. I feel all bloated and terrible. Massive amounts of beer will do that to you. I might weigh next Monday. I am very proud of the rest you. Go Girls!!!! :clap_1:

DD - you've done a great job!!! on the gorgonzola sauce - it is very high fat which is why it is so good. but, it's also pretty rich so I usually have the pasta as a side to grilled Italian chicken. the chicken is so yummy dipped in that sauce... still not exactly diet food, but okay as a reward now and then..

11 pounds! you continue to inspire... :clap_1:

I think this sauce will definitely be at the top of my reward list, on the middle of the list and the last thing on the list!! Can't wait to try it!
Ahem.....I must put this out of my mind for now though!! Gotta get back to posting goals and daily results. That system seems to keep me more on track. If I don't post the goals, then I have no "documentation"!

Thanks for your continued kind words!!

I just made the mistake of reading the label on the hummus container.

It is a 7 oz. container, and has 7 servings. So that means I was only supposed to eat 1 oz. Yeah, right. Who eats only 1 oz. of anything??? :bang: My 6.5 servings were delish tho!!!:floor:

Ok..since Mango and I are the only ones still up, I will go ahead and post Tues report and Wed goals now.

Daily report: Was bad at lunch...enough said.
Better at dinner....one grilled chicken breast, about 1/2 cup asian salad, two bites potato salad.
Didn't do so well on water today...I just kinda forgot.
DID double walk time and distance though.
My office mate is on WW and lost 4 lbs. last week, the bat turd! Of course, she had to go into detail about her "extra curricular" activities over the weekend....:puke: and how many calories she burned......

Anyhoo, Wed. goals:

Water
Healthy food, portion control.
Walk even more! This is good for my frustration level which is high at the moment..:bang:

My goals today:
Stay with portion control, calorie plan
drink 5 oz glasses water (I assume decaf iced tea counts) -- I never drink enough water
Keep watching calories

As for the gorgonzola recipe, maybe it makes sense to spread those calories over 2 days, so that on the night we have pasta with gorgonzola sauce, we cut out 600 calories either earlier in the day or the next day. So, there should be a recipe for "pasta with gorgonzola sauce followed by a 600-800 calorie day the next day". That way, we can enjoy the pasta guilt-free.

You dog, went to Pilates? I caught a terrible cold from Heather when she was here and there's some things that I don't want to share so stayed home. Have been pigging out since I was sick but how bad can extra cardboard be :floor: . :floor: Is Bridgette doing the Secret again tonight? Might try to make it.

I will do my penance here, but I won't exactly tell what my weight is Tootsie. I only gained 1 pound on my beerfest weekend. I didn't really eat that much Saturday, which was probably the reason for the stupor I was in. ;-)

Breakfast today: South Beach Meal Replacement Bar....Caramel Nut. Love them.

Lunch Today: Leftover Grilled Turkey Cutlets and Steamed Asaparagus that I made for dinner last night.

Dinner Tonight: Grilled Chicken Salad.

Walk on the treadmill here at work for 30 minutes sometime today.

Good Luck Girls.

Well, I'll post it now and get it over with. Uh, I just thought I was bad yesterday! Today, I had no breakfast, so by lunch I was starving and my big corporate boss (friend) came and took me to lunch to thank me for all my hard work, and sooooooo
I had: bread-3 pieces!
chicken marsala
a tiny bit of riggatoni--maybe 1/2 cup
salad with house tomato viniagrette

BAD, BAD, BAD! :bang:

No dinner for me...maybe a small dinner salad....maybe.
Long walk coming up. Jeez, girls, help me....I've spun out of control!!
