okay my little fitness wannabees... here it is. and thanks for deciding on this thread name. After sharing our goals and strategies for fitness and weight reduction, we'll all be sowell on sowal!!!

Cork and I are doing at least one yoga/pilates class per week now. plus we bicycled the other day (almost killed me). and plan to do exercise on our own at home as well.

as far as diet and weight reduction, we haven't really gotten very far. I'm reading two current resources for motivation and just general info: Body for Life for Women (A Woman's plan for Physical and Mental Transformation) - Pamela Peeke, MD, and The Reality Diet (fight fat with fiber) - Schnur, MD. They are both really straightforward, no nonsense approaches to weight loss - and include a lot of info on weekly menus, exercise, etc.

I know that I will need a menu plan to follow in the first 3 months of my "transformation". If I have a reasonable menu to follow, then I don't mind shopping and cooking. Having it all planned out makes it easier for me, and it makes me eat things that I would otherwise avoid or not think about eating (it expands the culinary experience)...

What are your goals? I need to finish up some of my reading and then I plan to put my goals on paper, along with my plan to achieve them. I have also already started a food and exercise journal.

I'll be sharing some of this with you. I hope we can all share successes, questions, recipes, exercise tips, etc... hope to see you on here every day looking for motivation and at the same time giving support to all of us.. :D

I have a question for you regular Sowellers: I did a two-mile walk today, but prior to the walk, I had a meatloaf sandwich and a bottle of beer for lunch. So, does my walk qualify to post here? Or, does my lunch make me more welcome? ;-)
you'll have to ask DD, but I think the lunch makes you in trouble with sowell wenches.

the walk may reduce your sentence though.;-)

I'd say the meatloaf ( ) definitely puts you in the bad girl category. We never count alcohol if it's consumed after 11 a.m. (SoWell Wench Code Section 13, Part 1). ;-) But, two miles is pretty good. Add another half mile tomorrow and the meatloaf sandwich will be forgiven.

Whew! I like how you wenches think.
Also, I should add that on the trip back, I was carrying a Sunday newspaper, which I believe counts the same as small handweights, correct? Which I'm hoping might excuse me from the extra 1/2 mile tomorrow.

I can't help it. DD cracks me up. She's the best. Are you going to join us Monday and weigh in? not that you have a choice in the matter. Once you post on here, you are a soweller, pursuant to sowell mofo wench committee rule no. 57.121.

well... yesterday at the Festival de Pantalones Bianca at Uncle Timmy's, we had cooked for two days, and had pasta with tomato cream/vodka sauce, Italian sausage, grilled/stuffed chicken breasts, risotto cakes, tomato/mozerella salad, Italian grilled vegetables, roasted fingerling potatoes, breads, pumpkin cake, and much vino...

Weigh In Report:

I went to step on my scales and it read 65 pounds. either I've lost a whole lot of weight or my scales are broken. I think its broken since my fat clothes still fit pretty well.

spidey was playing with the scale a few days ago, and adjusting it with the dial. Guess I have to run into Destin and get a new one today...

This is the truth!

okay, so I just measured my inches, and I've maintained a two inch loss in waist, hips and thighs. :D

I have probably gained a pound or two since my 7 pound loss.

what are my goals for this week? exercise and water first. portion control second.

Congrats, Toots!!:clap_1:

Weigh-in report:

Frankly, I was scared shi*less to weigh this morning, but I'll be danged if I have only gained 1 pound after a month of not weighing regularly, eating everything in sight and drinking mostly alcohol. :D So, all in all, this puts me still at 10 lbs. less than I was when I started this whole thing. (I hope those scales are right!) This could be dangerous though, since it might lead to a false sense that I can still continue to be bad. But NO! I will get back on the wagon and be a good girl. Would love to make it to Thanksgiving down at least 5 more.
Goals for this week: Water, USE that treadmill!

Wow DD, 10 lbs since starting SoWell on SoWal! Here's to you:clap_1:

I will say that my not-too-often-but-well-intentioned visits to SoWell have indeed been helpful. I can't say I've been as successful as DD, but I have kept my "high weight" down about 4 lbs from what it was when I started.

So, OK, here's my new commitment -- I'll lose at least 5 lbs before my class reunion the Saturday after thanksgiving! I'll plan on having oatmeal or poached egg on toast in the mornings, a healthy choice meal for lunch, and eat lighter than usual for dinner, along with more water and more fruits/veggies. I'll check out a local gym to join, and I'll walk to work more and I'll get my butt out of what I call the "demon chair" at home more often (my nice leather recliner by the fireplace where I read the paper and work from my laptop).

see DD and Toots what your pm did! Thanks (i think...).

As for the pantalone bianca festival, toots, sound wonderful... and worth any penance:wub:
