Someone needs to ask recently indicted Rick Perry why he allowed a man with Ebola to enter Texas.
Come on Poppy, you know he was at the border and not at DFW airport.

Claims that Isis terrorist cells are crossing the Texas border and now Ebola entering from the air. Why does Rick Perry hate America?

Well maybe this will cure people of their viruphobia. it's an ebola plush doll. I'll bet even Andy could cuddle up with one of these! http://www.giantmicrobes.com/us/products/ebola.html

No panic. I hear they are planning to visit our area for spring break...

This thing could double as a plush turd doll.

So could some of the things I clean out of the cats litter box. You ever see a furry turd? It's what I call a "furd".

WTF? Man diagnosed with Ebola and Texas quarantines his family under armed security in the virus infested apartment for five days before they are moved to a location provided by an anonymous donor and the place is finally decontaminated. It's hard to believe a state the size of Texas couldn't have come up with a safe place for this family a bit sooner, thanks Gov. Perry.

I hope this answers the question about why it makes sense to have the military involved in these kinds of operations, particularly in 3rd world nations where conditions in cultural behavior are even worse than in the state of Texas. Hard to believe, I know. These are precision operations that require organization and adherence to strict protocols. If ever there was a time to sweat the small stuff, this is it. Who does that better than anyone? I think we can all say with pride, the military of course. Part of the strategy is going to involve stopping this dead in its tracks abroad. From what I hear, we've done just that in Nigeria. Over here, our civilians should be able to handle this competently. Apparently in Texas, that is simply not the case. I'm sure there are plenty of other places in the country where this would not have been such a complete failure of operations and communications. In spite of all that, this probably will be contained, but as long as it exists abroad, there will always be some risk over here. It's that simple.

I heard on NPR that they are tracking about 40 definite contacts of the original case and another 60 remote contacts. That's relatively easy to do. But, if any of the forty have forty contacts, and so on, tracking gets exponentially more difficult. Also heard some of the definite contacts resisted quarantine. Some people are flat-out going to resist being "arrested" for being sick. Some are just going to bolt...That's at the core of the problem in Africa.

I agree with 2/3 of the comment. But overall theoretically Texas has the best hospitals, not a singular hospital, but hospitals, both private sector and military in the US. The disconnect is it became the Keystone Cops, there still is a glory grab here, with no entity clearly in charge as Poppy pointed out with the five day lapse in cleaning the apartment and removing the family. Another case of everyone wants control but nobody wants blame. Dallas County removes the infected materials but does not have the proper DOT certification to dispose of it. WTF? The CDC is camped out there and meanwhile the infected items are in a bag inside a barrel inside a container inside a sealed truck protected by two Sheriffs.
Hopefully FEMA didn't train the CDC.

Also, it's always "good" to remember, that the "list of possible contacts" came from a deathly sick man trying to remember every single person that he may have come in contact (or that may have come in contact with his clothing, bedding, etc.) in the last too weeks. Did he forget somebody?

Alright, maybe that was just Texas bashing, but it could have been handled better, maybe even in Texas. We have the capability.

Indeed. We need a Federal government that are experts, that are the best and brightest and most have proven recently to be anything but.

In this particular case, I might have to side with Carson. The Federal government did a great job with the invasion of Iraq. The Federal government did a great job on detecting , and thwarting the rise of ISIL. The CDC has dropped the ball enough times to wonder if all the computer models in the world will really help if one rouge carrier decides he doesn't want to be arrested for being sick.

Very true, ISIL and Ebola, lots of speculation and fear for sure.

I hear ISIS puts ebola into the chemtrails. I choose to believe this. I have no proof it is true, but I have no proof it is not. If I am wrong, then there is no problem. If I am right, then I can say I was ready for this.

After viewing footage from various Fox News programs over the weekend I believe ignorance should be added to the list of possible epidemics.

Conservatives continue the freak out epidemic.
Huckabee: "When the government says it can't keep people out of the US, it says it won't keep people out. And why should we be surprised? We've seen our borders routinely ignored, so if someone with Ebola really wants to come to the US, just get to Mexico, and walk right in."
Bill O'Reilly, host, The O'Reilly Factor: "Thinking ahead, and taking precautions is simply responsible policy. Time and again, the Obama administration has failed to do that...There is no reason on earth, on this earth, that right now we should be accepting anyone in this country with a West African passport."
Donald Trump, conservative gadfly: "Let's not kid ourselves. I mean with the five billion dollar website for Obamacare, which is still not working, frankly, and it's a disaster. And so many other things: Benghazi, wars...IRS."
Rush Limbaugh, host, The Rush Limbaugh Show: "The people in Liberia only went there because they had to get out of here 'cause they were slaves...Therefore if Ebola ends up here, it's only payback, folks...Unfortunately we have elected people in positions of leadership who think this way. The president is one of them."
Mark Levin, host, The Mark Levin Show: "Of course we should profile! It doesn't have to be based on race or anything of that sort. We have a right as a people in this country— it's our country, our country! We have a right to say 'No' temporarily or permanently to people coming into this country from certain parts of the world, so that our families, our children, our grandchildren, our society, isn't at risk. That's just natural...and yet the opposite goes on here."
Michael Savage, host, Savage Nation: "We're losing control of our country, we're losing control over our future, we're losing control over our lives. And it's intentional...So we have our first case of Ebola. Congratulations...What's next—the bubonic plague? Malaria? I don't know. And you're paying for all of it. All of it."
Michelle Malkin, syndicated columnist: "In the wake of the Ebola scare (not to mention renewed jihadi threats from abroad), worried Americans are heading to the drugstore to stock up on face masks, hand sanitizer, and gloves. New vaccines are in the works for emerging global contagions. Unfortunately, there is no antidote for our government’s blind and deadly diversity worship. Political correctness is a plague on us all."
Glenn Beck, host, The Glenn Beck Program: "You want a reason to have food storage? You want a reason to have gold? You want a reason to have guns? You want a reason to have God? It's called 'Ebola.'"

Lead story on CNN and BBC too. Ahh the support for the Boy King who can do no wrong. The CDC, IRS, Secret Service, Obama Care, Illegal Alien Emancipation, Executive Order, quite a proud legacy indeed! Hope and change continues to WOW the world. I am laying bets on his approval rating at the end of his tenure...that is if we dont get an executive order abolishing term limits.
