It appears as though it may not spread very far in this country in spite of unforgivable mishaps. I'm sure a lot of Republicans and conservatives will be very disappointed because that would put a damper on their political fear agenda. Then again, maybe if ebola turns out to be a non-issue domestically, they can give credit to prayer.

I don't know about that. Their Psalm 109:8 Obama prayer didn't work as they hoped.

It is obvious that you feel qualified to insult others. It is obvious that you feel qualified to judge others. Good luck with that as there will be a real Judgement one day!

I just give discredit where discredit is due.

It looks like ebola fears have gone the way of Rick Perry's political career.

This is the amount of attention the best most compassionate President ever gave to an epidemic.

The transcript, courtesy of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, chronicles how Speakes relentlessly mocked a reporter for asking about AIDS as other reporters laughed. Here's the excerpt:

Q: Larry, does the President have any reaction to the announcement—the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, that AIDS is now an epidemic and have over 600 cases?

MR. SPEAKES: What’s AIDS?

Q: Over a third of them have died. It’s known as “gay plague.” (Laughter.) No, it is. I mean it’s a pretty serious thing that one in every three people that get this have died. And I wondered if the President is aware of it?

MR. SPEAKES: I don’t have it. Do you? (Laughter.)

Q: No, I don’t.

MR. SPEAKES: You didn’t answer my question.

Q: Well, I just wondered, does the President—

MR. SPEAKES: How do you know? (Laughter.)

Q: In other words, the White House looks on this as a great joke?

MR. SPEAKES: No, I don't know anything about it, Lester.

Q: Does the President, does anybody in the White House know about this epidemic, Larry?

MR. SPEAKES: I don't think so. I don't think there’s been any—

Q: Nobody knows?

MR. SPEAKES: There has been no personal experience here, Lester.

Q: No, I mean, I thought you were keeping—

MR. SPEAKES: I checked thoroughly with Dr. Ruge this morning and he’s had no—(laughter)—no patients suffering from AIDS or whatever it is.

Q: The President doesn’t have gay plague, is that what you're saying or what?

MR. SPEAKES: No, I didn’t say that.

Q: Didn’t say that?

MR. SPEAKES: I thought I heard you on the State Department over there. Why didn’t you stay there? (Laughter.)

Q: Because I love you, Larry, that’s why. (Laughter.)

MR. SPEAKES: Oh, I see. Just don’t put it in those terms, Lester. (Laughter.)

Q: Oh, I retract that.

MR. SPEAKES: I hope so.

The number of Kim Kardashian's husbands is greater than the number of people who have died from Ebola in this country.

Ebola is so rare in this country, it might become a collector's item.

It wasn't until May 31, 1987 that President Reagan would give his first major address on AIDS. It was at an outdoor speech in Washington organized by amFAR, the American Foundation for AIDS Research. Elizabeth Taylor, a lifelong friend of Ron and Nancy Reagan, persuaded the President to be there. On the exact night that he gave that speech, saying the word "AIDS" for the first time in public, 21,000 Americans had already died from the disease.

I read where Dr. Marco Rubio is disagreeing with his fellow physicians and is calling for a travel ban. Oh wait, he's not a doctor.

You miss so many chances, with your constant bashing of anything right. You must be fun at parties.

From RealClearPolitics, so you might actually read it:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ar...an_and_aids_correcting_the_record_122806.html

It isn't bashing. I just highlight the glaring hypocrisy of the right. I know it's painful for you that your party is always on the wrong side of history.

Check out Ohio Governor John Kasich's statement on the repeal of Obamacare, "The opposition to it was really either political or ideological. I don't think that holds water against real flesh and blood, and real improvements in people’s lives.”

That is a really obnoxious habit that those on the far right, or far left, practice with great regularity. I am neither a registered Republican or Democrat. I have voted for candidates of both parties.

Further, were I a Republican, I would point out the Lincoln was a Republican. So, according to your words, abolishing slavery was wrong. Tap dance out of that one.

Finally, I note that you had no response to the link I posted. Do you only want to comment on those items you feel you can win a debate on? If so, just let me know. I'l stop wasting my time with you.

No need to get upset, I was researching while you ranted and you were right on that point.

Lincoln wasn't an abolitionist.

He didn't believe blacks should have the same rights as whites. It didn’t apply to border slave states so he didn't free all slaves.

Emancipation was a military policy, Lincoln saw it would further undermine the Confederacy while providing the Union with a new source of manpower to crush the rebellion.

So like Reagan, Lincoln isn't exactly what the RW claims he is. It's hard for them to dip that big ass brush in such a small can of paint.

Wow, spinning at 78 RPM. I know all those things. So, absolutely nothing Lincoln did was good?

Try this one on for size. The 1984 Democratic Party Platform. How many times was HIV/AIDS mentioned? ZERO! http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/?pid=29608

Cherry picking facts is for the weak. Open your eyes, be surprised. Neither party has the monopoly on stupid, yet you continue to post as if the right was all alone.

I'll grant you that the far right is more entertaining, but when it comes to actually running the country, both parties suck.

Did I say That? Oh I get it ha ha, you're spinning now. I'll also give you a win. I'll give Reagan credit for only waiting three years instead of five to mention a disease that had killed thousands of Americans.

It's always politically safe in the conservative alt.universe to take a firm tough misguided stance on something you know is not going to happen just to appeal to your base.

So, you bash Reagan for a lack of HIV/AIDS action in 1982, but give your party a walk for not having HIV/AIDS on the plank in 1984.

It's a shame, I thought you might actually be different. Just another "other guy" basher who can't see the forest for the trees.

Bye now.

Uh, your losing it. We were illustrating the difference in responses to a disease outbreak by different Presidents. Now you want to expand the conversation not just to the President or individuals of the Republican or Democratic parties but to the party platforms, really? I'm guessing you're going to shock us with the revelation of a giant ebola plank made from some exotic rare disease resistant African hardwood in the Republican platform for 2016.

First, and always foremost, there are no discussion limits on the internet.

We weren't discussing AIDS. We were discussing Ebola. You started the tangent.

We weren't discussing Reagan, you wanted to bring him up with some manufactured strawman that you thought made you sound smart. I saw right through it.

Once again, you have an explanation why the Dems were remiss in 1984, but you demand something of Reagan in 1982?

Don't bother. I've figured you out. Political discussion on the internet can be fun. When you, or a far right loon equally, only want to spend all your time bashing the other guys, it gets boring fast. Like a worn chew toy, you aren't much fun anymore.

How much legislation or policy has come out of a political party meeting?

Reagan ignored AIDs and let people die, a little over 21,000 initially and hundreds of thousands more due to a lack of even giving a ****.

It wasn't a manufactured strawman, that was his first major public address on the subject. And we were discussing Presidents and disease outbreaks. I was wrong about the date he first mentioned aids publicly and I didn't hesitate to admit it. What else do you want?

Now let's discuss ebola. What do the Republicans propose besides fear, panic, and border closing? Todd Kincannon, the former executive director of the Republican Party in South Carolina, has his own solution for avoiding a massive Ebola outbreak: Execute everyone infected. Now there's a final solution I'm sure the NRA will get behind.

At their last convention the RNC took a firm stand on no water pistols while allowing real weapons in. Now that's real head scratcher.
